Since the surgical instrument of the present invention has the above-described configuration, when the first sleeve member is inserted into the bone sample to cut the bone sample, the coronal shape for cutting the bone sample is inserted. Because the serrations have a wall thickness that is less than the wall thickness of the first sleeve member, the coronal serrations first smoothly enter the bone sample by a longitudinal length of the serrations. The thick walled portion of the first sleeve member may be reached, making it difficult to smoothly penetrate into the bone sample, and the person conducting the examination will be able to confirm that sufficient depth has been reached to cut out the desired bone sample. Therefore, excessive insertion of the first sleeve member into the bone sample can be prevented, and the burden on the subject's body can be kept to the necessary minimum. .
