Conventionally, this type of foldable outside mirror was
For example, it is disclosed in Utility Model Publication No. 58-39945 ``Shock Absorption Mechanism in Door Mirror''. This conventional technique will be briefly explained based on FIGS. 6 and 7. A stay c is integrally formed on the side of a mirror housing b having a mirror a. The lower surface of the stay c is provided with an annular recess e and a rotation center axis d projecting downward from the center of the annular recess e. A fitting recess g is provided at the bottom of the annular recess e. On the other hand, a base h that automatically holds the mirror housing b via the stay c is formed with a bearing k having an upper wall i provided with a through hole j of the rotation center axis d on the mirror housing b side. . Furthermore, a fitting recess l corresponding to the fitting recess g is provided on the upper surface of the upper wall i. The stay c allows the rotation center axis d to pass through the base h through the through hole j of the base h, and the annular recess e fits into the bearing k. At this time, the annular recess e
The fitting recess g formed at the bottom of the and the upper wall i of the stay c
A bearing m is interposed between the fitting recess l formed in the bearing m. The mirror housing b is rotatably held relative to the base h by compressing a spring n through a washer f to a rotation center axis d inserted into the stay c. However, in such a conventional technique, it is necessary to accurately form the dimensions of the annular recess e of the stay c, the bearing k of the base h, the upper wall i, etc., and to interpose the bearing m. If the dimensions were relatively inaccurate and varied, there was a risk that the stay c would rise from the base and a slight gap would be created on the contact surface i. Also, when the stay c, that is, the mirror housing d rotates, the stay c is attached to the base h.
Because the mirror housing b rose up from the mirror and rotated, there were cases where the mirror housing b swung up and down. For this reason, the corner of the mirror housing b comes into contact with the stay c, causing problems such as damaging the mirror housing b or the stay c, or causing rotational obstruction.

The present invention was developed in view of the above-mentioned circumstances, and is designed to maintain close contact between the mirror housing and the base that supports the mirror housing in a rotatable and tiltable manner at all times, and to maintain this close contact even when the mirror housing is rotated and tilted. Therefore, it is possible to provide a foldable outside mirror in which the mirror housing does not swing relative to the base.

Hereinafter, one embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. 1 to 5 show an embodiment of the present invention. The base 1 is a horizontally protruding mirror housing 2
An inverted L-shape comprising a supporting part 11 and a fixing part 12 to the vehicle body extending substantially perpendicularly to the supporting part 11.
It is molded into a letter-shaped shape from lightweight alloy such as die-casting. A rotation center shaft 13 having a hollow portion 13a is provided on the distal end side of the support portion 11 and protrudes toward the mirror housing 2 side. The rotation center shaft 13 further has a large diameter portion 1
3b and a small diameter portion 13c. A so-called stepped rotation center shaft 13 is formed. The small diameter portion 13c is provided to prevent the spacer 3 from rotating. The mirror housing 2 has a substantially rectangular box shape, holds the mirror 5 in its opening, has an arcuate end on the side of the base 1, and has a fitting portion 21 for the support portion 11 on its lower end. There is. The fitting part 21
has a hook shape having a sliding wall 22 on the upper side and a side wall 23 covering the tip of the support part 11. The rotation center shaft 13 is disposed on the side wall 23 side of the sliding wall 22.
A fitting hole 24 is formed. Further, around the fitting hole 24, as shown in FIG. 4, a holding recess 25 for a ball bearing 34 is provided with a gap of 120°. The spacer 3 that holds the mirror housing 2 on the base 1 by a spring 4 is a flange 3.
1 and a through hole 32 of the rotation center shaft 13. The through hole 32 has an oval inner diameter so as to fit into the small diameter portion 13c of the rotation center shaft 13. Further, a holding recess 33 for a ball bearing 34 corresponding to the holding recess 25 formed in the support part 11 is formed on the lower surface of the flange 31 (on the supporting part side of the base 1). The base 1, mirror housing 2, and spacer 3 having the above configuration are assembled in the following manner. First, the mirror housing 2 is attached to the large diameter portion 13b of the rotation center shaft 13 that is erected on the support portion 11 of the base 1.
, and the sliding wall 22 of the mirror housing 2 is brought into sliding contact with the support portion 11 of the base 1. Then, move the spacer 3 to the rotation center axis 1
The small diameter portion 13c of No. 3 is fitted into the small diameter portion 13c. At this time, the through hole 32 of the spacer 3 and the small diameter portion 1 of the rotation center shaft 13
3c and 3c are d-cut from each other, so rotation around the axis does not occur. Finally, a spring 4 is compressed between the upper surface of the flange 31 of the spacer 3 and the washer 14 secured to the tip of the rotation center shaft 13, and the biasing force of the spring 4 causes the spacer 3 to move toward the mirror housing 2. Support part 1 of base 1
The ball bearing 34, the spring 4, the spacer 3, and the sliding wall of the mirror housing are in pressure contact with the sliding wall 22 formed in the mirror housing 1, and the mirror housing 2 is pivotally supported on the base 1 so as to be rotatable and tiltable. 22 constitutes a so-called detent between the mirror housing 2 and the base 1. FIG. 2 shows a state in which an impact is applied to the mirror housing 2 of the foldable outside mirror assembled as described above, or the mirror housing 2 is rotated and tilted with respect to the base 1. Yes, when the mirror housing 2 is tilted toward the front or rear of the vehicle body (arrow) with respect to the base 1, the mirror housing 2 rotates about the rotation center shaft 13 provided upright on the support part 11 of the base 1; A ball bearing 34 built into the holding recess 25 of the housing 2 rotates together with the mirror housing 2 at that position. Then, the lower surface of the flange 31 of the spacer 3 comes into contact with the ball bearing 34 and acts to separate from the presser recess 33.
At this time, the spacer 3 moves upward against the spring 4 without rotating. Therefore, the mirror housing 2 rotates and tilts without floating upward relative to the base 2.

Since the present invention has the above configuration, it has the following effects. (1) When the mirror housing rotates and tilts relative to the base during transportation of a car or due to impact, the mirror housing rotates and tilts with its sliding wall always in sliding contact with the support surface of the base. The housing is less likely to lift up from the base itself and swing up and down, causing damage to the mirror housing itself or the base. Moreover, it does not become an obstacle to rotation and tilting. (2) Since the mirror housing and base are always supported with a large contact surface by the sliding wall and the support part, the mirror housing is less likely to shake or reduce visibility due to vibrations, etc. .
