In FIG. 2, a photographing lens 12 having an autofocus function for photographing a subject is provided at the front of a video camera body 11, and the image of the subject photographed by the photographing lens 12 is transferred to an imaging tube 13 The image is formed on the image pickup tube 13a. The image pickup tube 13 converts the formed optical image into an electrical signal, which is amplified by the signal processing circuit 14 to a predetermined video signal. The video signal processed by the signal processing circuit 14 is stored in the rear part of the video camera body 11, and is sent to an electronic viewfinder 15 using a small cathode ray tube and a portable video camera.
It is supplied to a video output terminal 17 for connection to a VTR 16. The phosphor of the small cathode ray tube for displaying images of the electronic viewfinder 15 has a slightly longer afterglow time than that of a normal cathode ray tube. The electronic viewfinder 15 is driven by a power battery 19 via a current control circuit 18, and the current control circuit 18 controls the heater section of the small cathode ray tube of the electronic viewfinder 15 according to the oscillation cycle of the oscillation circuit 20. It is configured to intermittent the current supplied to circuits other than the The oscillation circuit 20 is a periodic signal generator for a video camera, and as shown in the output waveform diagram in FIG. 18.
Further, a manual switch 21 is connected to the current control circuit 18, and by switching this switch 21, it is possible to constantly supply current to the electronic viewfinder 15.

The image of the subject photographed by is converted into a predetermined video signal by an image pickup tube 13 and a signal processing circuit 14, and this image can be confirmed by an electronic viewfinder 15. At this time, the current supplied to the electronic viewfinder 15 is turned on and off by the current control circuit 18 with a waveform as shown in FIG.
The image displayed in 5 is interrupted every 1 field (approximately 1/60 second) of the video signal, but the afterglow time of the phosphor of the small cathode ray tube used in the electronic viewfinder 15 is longer than normal. Because it is long,
No fritzing occurs. Therefore, the power supplied to the electronic viewfinder 15 is reduced to about 1/2, so that power battery consumption can be reduced.
