(Prior Art) Traveling toys used as children's toys involve movement, so they are interesting as toys, and various toys have been proposed in the past. For example, there are various types such as those that run along a track, and those that travel in any direction and turn around when they hit a wall or the like and travel in the opposite direction. However, all of these running toys pursue only the fun of being able to run and move themselves, and the running motion is extremely simple and gets boring quickly.

Therefore, the present applicant has already proposed a running toy with mysterious movements, as shown in Utility Model Application No. 14967/1983. This type of traveling toy has a shape that resembles a caterpillar, etc., and has a rotating drum rotatably supported by a support member of the toy, which is rotated using a drive source built into the drum. A mysterious running operation was performed by moving one shell member, one end of which was swingably attached to the support member, by a means linked to the rotation of the drum.

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) However, in the case of such running toys, since there was only one shell member that created the mysterious running motion of the toy modeled after living things, it was difficult to see the shell member when looking at it. The problem is that the motion of the toy tends to be monotonous, and because it tends to be monotonous, it is difficult to realistically and realistically express biological motion (smoothness of movement) using the toy. Furthermore, since the base end of the shell member of the toy is attached to the support member of the toy and the tip end thereof is free, the shell member of the toy may be unknowingly grasped and the toy removed. When the shell member is carried, etc., the distal end of the shell member separates from the support member of the toy, and depending on the impact force applied to the proximal end of the shell member when the shell member separates, the shell member itself may separate from the support member. There was a problem.

Reference numeral 17 denotes a motor driven by a battery (not shown). In the illustrated state, the output shaft 18 of the motor 17 is first driven through a gear 19, reduction gears 20, 21, clutch gear 22, and intermediate gear 23. It is transmitted to the shaft drive gear 24 and rotates in the forward rotation direction with respect to the drive shaft 7. At this time, the first worm gear 25 provided near the end of the drive shaft 7 rotates the flat gear 26 in the direction of arrow I, and the pinion gear 28 is integrally connected to the flat gear 26 via the shaft 27.
moves the reversing activation member 30 provided with the rack 29 that engages it in the direction of arrow K. An inclined surface 29a is formed at the end of this rack 29 and is inclined downward in the direction of arrow K. After the drive shaft 7 continues to rotate normally for a while, this eventually comes into contact with the side of the outer end 31a of the lever member 31. This is pushed upward along the slope 29a. Then, the needle-like locking portion 31b provided at the inner end is engaged with the groove of the second worm gear 32, and the clutch shaft 33 equipped with the second worm gear 32 is moved in the direction of arrow M against the repulsive force of the spring 34. After that, it comes off the groove of the second worm gear 32 and locks with the end face of the second worm gear 32, thereby preventing the shaft 33 from returning due to the spring 34. At this time, the clutch gear 22 at the tip of the clutch shaft 33 separates from the intermediate gear 23 and comes into direct meshing with the large diameter gear 24a formed at the tip of the gear 24.
Therefore, at this point, the number of gears that transmit the drive of the motor 17 to the drive shaft 7 is reduced by one, and the drive shaft 7 begins to rotate in the opposite direction. Along with this, the first
The worm gear 25, the flat gear 26, and the pinion gear 28 are reversely rotated, and the moving direction of the rack gear 29, that is, the reversal activation member 30 is changed from the direction of arrow K to the direction of arrow L. An engaging portion 30a is provided at the tip of the reversal activation member 30, and the reversal activation member 30 is connected to the arrow L
As the engaging portion 30a moves in the direction, the engaging portion 30a will eventually come into contact with the outer end 31a of the lever and push the side portion of the lever downward, and at the same time, the locking portion 31b will be disengaged from the end surface of the second worm gear 32 in the radial direction, and the clutch will be released. The shaft 33 returns to its original position due to the repulsive force of the spring 34, and the drive shaft 7 rotates forward again in the same direction as the initial state. In this way, this drive unit 16 has a reversing mechanism equipped with gear changing means, and reverses the rotational direction of the drive shaft 7 at regular intervals. The drive unit 16 is mounted such that its center of gravity is offset from the center of the rotating drum by a predetermined distance.

First, the rotating drum 2 is rotated in the forward direction by the forward rotation of the drive shaft 7 of the drive unit 16 described above, so that the traveling toy 1 rotates and travels in the direction of arrow A in FIG. At this time, since the center of gravity of the rotating drum 2 is displaced from its center, the rotational speed of the rotating drum 2 periodically slows down and speeds up repeatedly as if beating. For this reason, the running toy 1 moves like a living creature such as an insect moving forward.

When the rotation direction of the drive shaft 7 is reversed by the reversing mechanism of the drive unit 16, the direction of the rotary drum 2 is reversed, and the traveling toy 1 is rotated backward in the direction of arrow B in FIG. At this time, the tip of the stopper member 4g of the first shell member 4a of the plurality of shell members 4 comes into contact with the running surface to restrict backward rotation of the toy 1 (see FIG. 6) and stabilize the toy 1. and the engagement member 35b convex portion 35 of the attachment means 35 of the other first shell member 4a.
f is in contact with the running surface and the one first shell member 4
At the same time, the sets of first shell members 4a are disengaged from the fitting holes 35a of the attachment means 35 (see FIG. 6). A pair of gear members 5a, which are means 5 for swinging the rotating drum 4a, are connected to the large and medium diameter gear 1 of the rotating drum 2.
2 and 13 and gradually move in the direction of arrow D in FIG.
The two sets of second shell members 4b are smoothly and gradually swung (opened) in the radial direction via the movement mechanism 6 provided on the two pairs of second shell members 4b. The movement of the one set of first shell members 4a and the two sets of second shell members 4b is due to the fact that each member is independent.
The speed at which each member swings varies slightly. Therefore, the plurality of shell members 4 of the traveling toy 1 can realistically and realistically represent movements similar to the movement of the legs of an animal such as an octopus.

Next, from the state shown in FIGS. 2 and 3 in which the plurality of shell members 4 are oscillated, the traveling toy 1 moves to the second position as the wavy projections 2b of the drum 2 come into contact with the running surface due to the reversal movement of the rotating drum 2.
