Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the arranging pitch from becoming out of order and maintain good contact pressure between terminals by forming each terminal in a single piece with a support by means of insert molding, embedding part of the leg part and the contact part in the support, holding them fast, and permitting the terminal to deform with external force. CONSTITUTION:A plug connector 10 is formed in a single piece through insert molding of an insulative support 12 and a conductive terminal 11 consisting of a leg part 19 and a contact part 18. This contact part 18 is embedded in the mating side face in the condition the outer side face is exposed at the mating side face of the support 12, and is stretched upward. The leg 19 is folded outward symmetrically, and the end of the leg 19 is stretched outward from the opposite side of the bottom of the support 12. Thereby the terminal deforms with external force to prevent failure in the electric contacting with the contact part of the mating terminal when external force causes the arranging pitch to become out of alignment. Thus good contact pressure with the mating party can be maintained at all times.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION [Field of Industrial Application] The present invention relates to a connector for shorting an electrical circuit, and more particularly, a connector for selectively connecting or switching signal circuits on a printed circuit board, particularly a connector for connecting or switching signal circuits on a printed circuit board. This invention relates to a plug connector for mounting on a circuit board.

However, in some electronic devices or depending on their parts, the frequency of signal circuit switching is extremely low. These electronic devices typically use shorting connectors rather than expensive switches.

As seen in 9981, terminal pins (posts) are press-fitted into an insulating support plate (herata).

(1) Since the terminal pins protrude outward from the insulating support plate, they are easily affected by external forces, and for example, are easily deformed by external forces, resulting in deviation from the predetermined arrangement pitch.

(2) In order to hold the terminal pins perpendicularly to the insulating support plate, the insulating support plate must have a necessary and sufficient thickness, but such an insulating support plate is necessarily taller than the connector. I wanted to, but I couldn't provide a low-profile connector. Such tall connectors cannot meet the demands for higher mounting density of electronic components on the surface of printed circuit boards and for smaller, lighter, thinner connectors.

(3) Since it is necessary to press-fit the terminal pin into the insulating support plate, the work becomes complicated. In particular, low-profile connectors have very small component parts, which makes it difficult to assemble them, and it is difficult to guarantee a high quality that is common to all connectors.

An object of the present invention is to integrate a pair of conductive terminals and an insulating support by insert molding, and to create a structure in which the integration of the two is not loosened or the contact portion of the terminal is not deformed by external force. It is an object of the present invention to provide a connector for shorting an electric circuit which can overcome each of the above-mentioned drawbacks by adding additional features.

One basic configuration of the connector is that the contact portions of the pair of terminals are buried in opposite sides of the support and extend upward, with their outer surfaces exposed on the opposite sides of the support. The leg portions of the pair of terminals are bent outward in a symmetrical manner, and the ends of the leg portions extend outward from opposite sides of the lower end of the support.

1.2)。
(1) The terminal is integrally formed with the support by insert molding, and the contact portion and at least a portion of the leg portion are embedded in the support and fixed and held as one unit. Therefore, the terminal will not be deformed by external force and the arrangement pitch will be out of order, which will not affect the electrical contact with the contact part of the mating terminal, and it will always maintain good contact pressure with the contact part of the mating terminal. (Claims 1 and 2) Moreover, the height of the connector does not increase due to the support, and the connector can fully meet the demands for higher mounting density of electronic components on printed circuit boards and for miniaturization.

(2)端子は、前述のように、支持体に一体に固定保持

(2) As mentioned above, the terminal is fixed and held integrally to the support body, and the leg portion is bent outward in the support body, so that the terminal cannot be bent in a direction perpendicular to the terminal. Even if a strong external force is applied, the integration with the support does not loosen (Claim 1).

(3) Since the leg portions of the terminals are pre-bent, in the case of a connector that is surface-mounted on a printed circuit board by bending the leg portions, there is no need to perform complicated bending work during mounting. Moreover, the end portion of the leg portion extending from the support body is positioned substantially in the same plane as the lower surface of the support body,
In other words, it doesn't stick out. Therefore, when the connector is surface mounted on a printed circuit board, the lower surface of the connector can be stably and firmly fixed to the surface (claims 1 and 4).

(4) This is due to the fact that the outer surface of the contact part of the terminal is located on the same plane as the outer surface of the support, and the upper end surface of the contact part is located on the same plane as the upper end surface of the support, so that the terminal protrudes. (Claim 5)

(5) Since the support body is composed of a columnar part and a plate-like part with a wider cross-section than the columnar part, the amount of material constituting the support body can be kept as small as possible to suppress an increase in the cost of the connector. It is possible to reduce the bulk and to improve the fixing stability to the surface of the printed circuit board (Claim 3).

(6) Since the terminal and support body are integrated by insert molding, there is no need to assemble the two, making it possible to mass-produce the connector at a low cost, while ensuring the same high quality for all connectors. You can wait.

A plurality of terminals 1 (as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3) are punched out of a conductive metal plate so as to be arranged in a chain with a carrier portion 21 interposed therebetween. This terminal 1
Cut the central part of one group to form the edge 18'' of the contact part, and with a predetermined spacing between the 11 groups of terminals in both rows, connect the 11 groups of terminals in both rows with an insulating material such as synthetic resin. 12 groups of supports are integrated by insert molding as described above. After this shaping, the terminals 11 of the individual plug connectors 10 are cut off from the carrier part 2I on the cutting line 22. Note that 200 in the figure indicates a deformation prevention member for the group of terminals 11 with the carrier portion 21 during the molding. Although not shown, the receptacle connector 50 can also be insert-molded in substantially the same manner.
