Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve a high speed for data transfer into an upper apparatus by arranging a memory region wherein reading and writing are possible between a plurality of concentric ring-shaped read-only memory regions, respectively, and storing the updated data in each ring-shaped read-only memory region in the readable and writable memory region in the vicinity. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of ROM regions 2 and RAM regions 1 are provided. One or a plurality of neighboring tracks are arranged in the respective regions. The updated data in the ROM region 2 are stored in the RAM region 1 as close as possible to the ROM region 2. For example, when the data at the positions of the track number 3 and the section number 0 are updated, the newest data are written into the track number 2 and the sector number 11. Thus the times of the seeking are decreased. In this way, the high speed for the transfer of the data into a higher rank apparatus is achieved.

Conventional Technology Manufacturers of memories such as optical disks market memories that have a mix of non-rewritable, read-only ROM areas and read-and-rewritable RAM areas, in order to provide known data to users at low cost. That is planned. When optical disc manufacturers ship optical discs, they provide existing data in the ROM area, such as basic information such as map information and the layout of one store, and store ROM 8N area in the RAM g area, which can be rewritten by each user. By storing updated information such as additions, corrections, deletions, etc. of the basic parts of the ROM and keeping the latest information, conventionally, optical discs with only ROM 9M area (stored existing data) and optical discs with only RAM G area (updated) Previously, it was necessary to maintain multiple optical discs for data storage, but now all information is stored on one optical disc, making information management easier. Furthermore, the efficiency of accessing and searching for information is improved, and it is expected that each user's work efficiency will be improved. Figures 12 and 13 show RAM
This shows a structure in which a ROM area and a 9M ROM area are provided on one optical disk. FIG. 12 shows a state in which a ROM area is provided on the outer circumferential side and a RAM area is provided on the inner circumferential side. Figure 13 is the 12th
This is a two-dimensional representation of the optical disc shown in the figure. The RAM area number consists of tracks 0 to 7, the l track has 12 sectors, and the ROM g area consists of tracks 8 to 6.
Problem to be Solved by the Invention In the case of the arrangement of ROM and RAM as shown in FIG. 13, where the number of sectors in the l track is 12,
When basic items stored in the OM area are updated, the RAM5Jt area that stores the updated items is initially transferred to the ROM.
It can be stored close to the area, but if the amount of updates increases, it will become farther away. For this reason, writing for updating and reading updated items takes time.

Means for Solving the Problems In order to achieve the above object, the storage medium of the present invention includes a plurality of concentric ring-shaped read-only memories in which read-write areas are arranged between disk-shaped read-write storage areas. A storage area is provided, and update information of this read-only storage area is stored in the read/write storage area 9 adjacent to the read-only storage area. Also,
A concentric fan-shaped read-only storage area is provided within a disk-shaped readable/writable storage area, and update information of this read-only storage area is stored within the range surrounded by the inner and outer radii of the fan-shaped read-only storage area. The information is stored in a readable and writable storage area. Further, an update area of the read-only storage area is also provided in the read/write storage area outside the range surrounded by the inner and outer radii forming the fan shape. Further, the fan-shaped read-only storage area is provided with the readable and writable storage area arranged between each of the fan-shaped read-only storage areas. Further, a plurality of fan-shaped read-only storage areas are provided, and they are arranged so that they do not exist within the same radius. Further, a concentric ring-shaped and a concentric fan-shaped read-only storage area are provided in the disk-shaped read/write storage area, and update information of the read-only storage area is stored in the read-only storage area near the circular read-only storage area. The information is stored in the read/write storage area within a range surrounded by the inner and outer radii of the fan-shaped read-only storage area and the fan-shaped read-only storage area, and further forms the fan-shaped read-only storage area. An update area of the fan-shaped read-only storage area is also provided in the read/write storage area outside the range surrounded by the inner and outer radii.

Since a readable and writable storage area is arranged between each of the concentric ring-shaped read-only storage areas of the double-drink function, the update information of each ring-shaped read-only storage area M is stored in the read-write storage area in the vicinity. It becomes possible to store it in the area. This reduces seeks (moving the read part),
It becomes possible to transfer data to a host device at high speed.

In addition, by providing a concentric fan-shaped read-only storage area within the disc-shaped read-write storage area, update information in the fan-shaped read-only storage wI area can be stored on the same track or in close proximity to the fan-shaped read-only storage area. Since the data can be stored in a trunk in a read/write storage area, high-speed seeking is possible, and data can be transferred to the host device 62 at high speed. In addition, by storing update information in the read/write storage area adjacent to the outer radius or inner radius of this fan-shaped read-only storage area, all the read/write storage areas surrounded by the inner and outer radii forming the fan shape are used. Reads and writes with fewer seeks are possible even after the In addition, by providing multiple fan-shaped read-only storage areas and arranging read/write storage areas between them, we can create read/write storage areas with a radius larger than the outer radius and smaller than the inner radius forming the fan shape. Tracks can now be effectively used to store updated information. In addition, by providing multiple fan-shaped read-only storage areas and arranging them so that they do not exist within the same radius, each fan-shaped read-only storage area is used to store readable and writable storage within the fan-shaped radius. The area can be used exclusively as an update information storage area without being used as another fan-shaped read-only storage area.

Further, by providing a concentric ring-shaped and a circular fan-shaped read-only storage area within the disk-shaped readable and writable storage area, it is possible to utilize the characteristics of each of the circular and fan shapes.

In this case, if the update information of the fan-shaped area can also be stored in readable and writable storage areas outside the outer radius and inside the inner radius forming the fan-shape, more update information can be stored.

For example, in FIG. 4, track number 5. Since the information on the position of sector number 9 has become outdated, if you want to update it, track number 5. The latest update information is written to sector number 8. In this way, in the first embodiment, update information was written to sectors with different track numbers, but in this embodiment, update information can be written to the same track, so two sectors can be written at once. This saves time and allows data to be transferred faster than in the first embodiment. Although the fan shape shown in FIG. 3 is 174 yen, it can be freely changed from 1/3 yen to 1/2 yen, etc., if necessary. This also applies to the embodiments described below.
