Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of Newton rings (interference fringes) when the total thickness of the whole liquid crystal display device is made thin by applying anti-glare processes on the outer surfaces of polarizing plates. CONSTITUTION:Anti-glare processes 2a, 3a are applied on the outer surfaces of an upper polarizing plate 2 and a lower polarizing plate 3. A protective plate 4 is arranged above the upper polarizing plate 2, and a back light 5 is arranged below the lower polarizing plate 3. Newton rings (interference fringes) occur between mirror faces, however the anti-glare processes 2a, 3a are applied on the outer surfaces of the polarizing plates 2, 3, and no Newton ring occurs even if the protective plate 4 or the back light 5 is brought into contact by a warp. The interval between the upper polarizing plate 2 and the protective plate 4 and the interval between the lower polarizing plate 3 and the back light 5 can be reduced or eliminated. The occurrence of Newton rings can be prevented when the total thickness of the whole liquid crystal display device is made thin.

As is well known, in a liquid crystal display device, a liquid crystal display element is constructed by sealing the periphery of two electrode substrates with a sealing material and sealing liquid crystal inside, and an upper polarizing plate and an upper polarizing plate are provided on the upper and lower surfaces of the liquid crystal display element, respectively. A polarizing plate is attached to the bottom. Generally, a protection plate is disposed above the upper polarizing plate, and a backlight is disposed below the lower polarizing plate. Note that as this type of liquid crystal display device, for example, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 1-5724
Publication No. 0 is mentioned.

By the way, in such liquid crystal display devices, when the protective plate or backlight (warpage) occurs due to environmental changes, etc., and when the protective plate or backlight comes into contact with the polarizing plate, Newton rings (interference fringes) are generated and the display is distorted. Quality deteriorates.

そこで従来は、偏光板と保護板またはバックライトとが
接触しない距離の間隔をとっていた。
Therefore, in the past, the distance between the polarizing plate and the protective plate or the backlight was such that the polarizing plate and the protective plate or backlight did not come into contact with each other.

The above conventional technology has the problem that the total thickness of the liquid crystal display device becomes large because it is necessary to provide a large distance between the polarizing plate and the protective plate or the backlight. The object of the present invention is to reduce the total thickness. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a liquid crystal display device that can perform the following functions.

〔課題を解決するための手段〕[Means to solve the problem]

In order to achieve the above object, anti-glare treatment is applied to the outer surface of the polarizing plate of the liquid crystal display device.

Even if the protective plate or backlight comes into contact with the polarizing plate due to warpage, Newton rings will not occur because the contact surface of the polarizing plate is anti-glare treated. Therefore, the distance between the polarizing plate and the protective plate or backlight may be reduced or eliminated.

Hereinafter, one embodiment of the present invention will be explained with reference to one diagram of the entire building. An upper polarizing plate 2 and a lower polarizing plate 3 are attached to the upper and lower surfaces of the liquid crystal display element 1, respectively.
The outer surfaces of the lenses are coated with anti-glare treatments 112a and 3a. Further, a protection plate 4 is disposed above the upper polarizing plate 2, and a bank light 5 is disposed below the lower polarizing plate 3.

Newton's rings occur between mirror surfaces, but since the outer surface of the polarizing plate 2.3 is treated with anti-glare treatment 2as3a, Newton's rings will not occur even if the protective plate 4 or bank light 5 comes into contact with Qk. do not. Therefore, the distance between the upper polarizing plate 2 and the protection plate 4 and the distance between the lower polarizing plate 3 and the bank light 5 can be reduced or eliminated.

In other words, even if the total thickness of the entire liquid crystal display device is made thinner, double-ton rings will still occur.

According to the present invention, since anti-glare treatment is immediately applied to the outer surface of the polarizing lens, Newton rings will not occur even if the total thickness of the entire liquid crystal display device is made thin.
