Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent entrance of water to the interior of a car room by forming a drain lip, having a water repellent layer formed of silicone rubber on the back, in an outwardly oblique down state integrally with the lower part of a hollow seal, in a sliding roof weather strip for an automobile. CONSTITUTION:The surface and a hollow seal 2 of a weather strip 1 are formed of EPDM sponge, and a drain lip 3 is protruded in an oblique down state from the lower part of the hollow seal 2 toward the outside of a car. A water repellent layer 30 of silicone rubber is formed on the back of the drain lip 3. This constitution reliably drops water entering through a seal surface between the hollow seal 2 and a roof panel into a drainage gutter from the tip of the lip along the surface of the lip 3.

That is, as shown in FIG. 3, the sliding roof weather strip 1 has a hollow seal 2 on the upper part of the outer side, a drainage lip 3 on the lower part of the seal 2 projecting diagonally downward on the outer side, and a fitting part 40 on the lower surface of the center. , with a clamping part 4 arranged on the inner surface. Then, in the case of a moon roof, for example, a glass plate 5 is inserted and clamped into the clamping part 4 of the weather strip, and the edge of the glass frame 50 attached to the glass plate is inserted into the fitting part 40, and the glass plate 5, the hollow seal 2 of the weatherstrip 1 is brought into contact with the side edge of the roof panel 6, and the outer raised edge 71 of the housing 7 is disposed below the weatherstrip 1.
A drainage gutter 70 is formed between the and the intermediate upright piece 72,

In the case of a sliding roof, the width W of the housing 7 is required to be as wide as possible.
1 needs to be as narrow as possible, and in addition, a rail for guiding the sliding roof (not shown) is provided on the inner surface S of the upright piece 72 of the housing 7, and the glass frame 5
Since the slider hanging down from 0 is fitted to the rail,
The attachment of the draining lip 3 of the upright piece 72 is not far from the lower part of the root. Also, between the housing 7 and the glass frame 50 @
The smaller the cross-sectional dimensions of H and the weather strip, the more preferable in terms of function and design. Therefore, the length p of the draining lip 3 is 4 to 5 holes, and its inclination angle θ is 45 degrees or less.

In the conventional example shown in FIG.
Water that enters the room between the hollow seal 2 and the roof panel 6 as shown by the arrow R flows along the surface of the draining lip 3, becomes water droplets Do, and falls into the gutter 70, where it is collected as drainage R8 and discharged outside. However, in some cases, the intruding water may drip.

The water droplet D1 wraps around the back surface of the draining lip 3 without closing and falling, and grows into a large water droplet D1 due to the action of surface tension, and the water droplet D1 is released from other than the predetermined designed position (the tip of the draining lip), for example.
The water drops as water droplets D3, flows as arrow R1 on the surface S of the housing 7 other than the gutter 70, and falls into the room as water droplets D3.

[Means and effects for solving the problem] As shown in FIG. 1, a sliding roof weather strip 1 is provided with a hollow seal 2 on the outside and a clamping part 4 for inserting a glass plate 5 on the inside. A draining lip 3 is provided at the lower part of the hollow seal 2 to protrude outward and diagonally downward, and a water-repellent material layer 30 such as silicone rubber is integrally molded on the back surface of the draining lip 3.

Therefore, due to the water repellent function of the water repellent material layer, water droplets Do always fall at the predetermined designed positions, and all water that entered between the hollow seal 2 and the roof panel 6 was completely drained out of the vehicle by the gutter 70. .

Example 1 (Fig. 1) The varnish sliding roof weather strip 1 has the same shape as the conventional example (Fig. 3), the surface of the weather strip 1 and the hollow seal 2 are made of EPDM sponge, and the back layer 30 of the draining lip 3 is made of silicone rubber, and the others are made of EP.
It was integrally molded as a DM solid.

Obtained sliding roof weather strip 1
When applied in the same manner as before, the silicone rubber layer 30 on the back side of the draining lip 3 is water repellent, so water that enters from the sealing surface between the hollow seal 2 and the roof panel 6 always flows along the surface of the draining lip 3. It dripped from the tip of the lip, dripped into the drainage gutter, and was able to be reliably drained out of the vehicle.

Example 2: In Example 1, the entire draining lip was molded from silicone rubber. The sliding roof weather strip obtained had the same effects as Example 1, except that the intruding water droplets were quickly transmitted onto the drainage lip 3.

Therefore, when adopting the weather strip of this example,
It is also possible to place the upright piece 72 of the housing 7 on the draining lip 3 directly below the roots.

Others: It is obvious that the desired purpose and effect can be achieved even if the entire surface layer of the drainer lip 3 is made of silicone rubber and the core is made of EPDM solid.

Further, it goes without saying that other water-repellent materials can be used instead of silicone rubber.

In sliding roof weather strips, at least the back side of the drain lip that projects diagonally downward on the outside is made of a water-repellent material, so water droplets that fall down along the front side of the drain lip are directed to the back side of the lip. Therefore, water droplets traveling on the drain lip always fall from the tip of the lip, and in all cases, the intruding water can be completely drained out of the vehicle by the drain gutter.
