により陽極板は方形からいわゆる、タル形に極板
面方向に肥大する。ところが下方及び左右方向は
電槽により伸びの限界が存在し、密閉型鉛蓄電池
は陽陰極板及び隔離体等に電解液を保持させると
いう性質上、極板群の積層方向に加圧している
為、極板面が湾曲しにくい構造になつている。そ
のため陽極板は上方向に大きく伸びる。その伸び
の応力によつて、第2図ロに示す様に陽陰極スト
ラツプ3,2間のわたり部5′が大きく湾曲する。
その湾曲によりわたり部5′が薄肉化すること及
びそのわたり部5′内部に大きな歪が生じること
によつて、わたり部5′の機械的強度を著しく低
下させ、運搬時その他の振動によつてストラツプ
3,2間のわたり部5′の断線、陰極板1と陰極
ストラツプ2間の断線などが生じ、電池短寿命及
び電池内部火点の原因になる。
