Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent light signals from impinging on eyes by a method wherein a light emitting element outputs light signals only when an optical fiber is connected to an optical output connector. CONSTITUTION:Electrically insulated conductors 6 and 7 are mounted on an output connector 5, and when a terminal 4 fixed to an optical fiber used for taking out light signals is connected to an optical connector 5, the conductors 6 and 7 become electrically conductive, and in result optical fiber connection detection signals 8 and 9 are outputted. On the other hand, a drive circuit 2 outputs a drive signal 3 which drives a light emitting element 1 that converts the inputted electrical signals into optical signals only when the optical fiber connection detection signals 8 and 9 are inputted.

[Means for Solving the Problems] The optical output control method of the present invention includes a light emitting element that converts an electrical signal into an optical signal when receiving a drive signal, and an optical fiber connection detection signal when detecting that an optical fiber is connected. The present invention is characterized in that it includes an optical connector that emits an optical fiber connection detection signal, and a drive circuit that emits the drive signal upon receiving the optical fiber connection detection signal. Note that the optical connector may include a push-button switch that detects that an optical fiber is connected.
