Even in such a passenger conveyor, the handrail that circulates around the parapet section is generally driven by frictionally transmitting the movement of the drive machine.

In such a case, there is a problem in that the speed of the handrail becomes slower than the speed of the footboard of the passenger conveyor, resulting in an accident in which the passenger falls.

In Figure 2, (1) is the main frame of the passenger conveyor, and (2) is the main frame (1) on both sides along the length. The erected parapet (3) is a handrail with a C-shaped cross section and a 0-shaped recess (3a) on the back side, and is endless at the edge of the parapet (2) and within the main frame (1). It is located. (4) is an endless board installed in the main frame (1).

A first chain gear (7a) that meshes with the handle, a friction wheel (7b) driven through the first chain gear (7a) and pressed against the bottom of the recess (3a) of the handrail (3), and a handrail (3). 8) Consists of a suppression mold (7c) pressed on the front side. (
8) is a detector installed in the main frame (1), one end of which is attached to the main frame (1).
The arm (8a) is composed of an electrically conductive roller, which is pivotally mounted on the other end of the arm (8a), and is arranged in a recess (3a) at a distance from each other. It is composed of a spring (8e) that urges the inward direction of the recess (3a), an actuating part (8d), and a battery (8e). (9) is the passenger conveyor control device, and (+) (~) is the power supply.

If the handrail (3) and recess (38) get wet due to rainwater, etc.
If a water puddle forms, the electrical resistance value between the electrodes (8b) will deviate from a predetermined value and the detector (8) will operate. This de-energizes the control device (9) and stops the passenger conveyor. Accidents such as passengers falling due to abnormal deceleration of the handrail (3) due to lack of frictional transmission force of the handrail (3) caused by rainwater etc. in the recess (3a) across the 9 handrails (3). can be prevented from occurring.

Effects of the Invention] As explained above in 1.17, this invention uses a detector having electrodes arranged in a recessed part of a handrail so as to overlap each other, and detects a change in electrical resistance between the electrodes when water adheres to the handrail. This detects handrail abnormalities.
