Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for independently providing light sources by providing such a light transmission means which transmits the light from the light source of a liquid crystal head to a destaticizing device of this light and using the light source as a light source of the destaticizing part. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal head 3 which forms exposed latent images on a photosensitive drum 1 and the destaticizing part 7 for removing the electrostatic change of the photosensitive drum 1 are disposed as shown in the figure. The light source 8 of the head 3 is contained in housing 9. A lens 10 is mounted to the housing in order to colloimate the light. A part of the light emitted from the light source 8 is passed through the lens 10 and is thereby made into collimated beams of light. The collimated beams of light are taken out of the housing 9 to the outside and are transmitted via mirrors 11 disposed to a prescribed position to the destaticizing part 7, by which the collimated beams of light are used as the light source for the destaticization. The need for respectively independently providing the two light sources for the liquid crystal head and for the destaticizing device is eliminated in this way.

Conventionally, this type of liquid crystal electrophotographic printer has a charger that uniformly charges the photoconductive layer around a rotatable photoconductor having a photoconductive layer, a liquid crystal head with a built-in light source, and toner attached to the photoconductor. A transfer charger for transferring toner onto paper, a cleaner for scraping off toner remaining on the photoreceptor, and a light source for a removing device for uniformly removing the charge on the photoconductive layer were each arranged independently.

The light source 8 of the liquid crystal head 3 is housed in a housing 9. A lens 10 is attached to the housing 9 to make the light parallel, and a part of the light emitted from the light source 8 passes through the lens 10. The parallel light is taken out from the housing 9 and transmitted to the static eliminator 7 via the mirror 11 placed at a predetermined position, thereby being used as a light source for static elimination.
