PURPOSE:To achieve miniaturization and reduce cost of the facsimile device by a method where in one rotatable rubber roller, an image sensor capable of approaching or being separated to from the rubber roller while pinching a document, and a thermal head which can approach or be separated to from the rubber roller while pinching thermal paper are provided. CONSTITUTION:A document 2 moves above a reading section of an image sensor 3 following rotation of a rubber roller 1 in transmission mode. The image of a character, a graphic etc. on the document 2 is converted to an electric signal which is subjected to signal processing and transmitted. Further, a thermal paper 6 moves above a printing section of a thermal head 7 following rotation of the rubber roller 1 in a receiving mode, and a received image is printed on the thermal paper 6 based on a signal received from a remote station. ジセンサ3とサーマルヘッド7とが接触可能であればよ
