し、これに対する応答信号を受けたのち、受信側
FAXに対応する方式で画像データを送出する。
なお確認信号としては、画像データの出力用紙サ
イズを指定する原稿サイズ情報をも送出する。こ
のように送受のFAX間では、画像データの送信
に先立ち、確認信号の授受を行つている。このよ
うなフアクシミリシステムにおいて、応答手段を
省略したFAXを、受信側に設置して単方向通信
を行う場合には、送信側FAXからは、確認信号
が一方的に送出されるのみとなる。このような単
方向通信において、原稿サイズ情報が受信側に到
達しなかつたとき、受信側FAXでは受信不能と
なる欠点があつた。

復号部からの復号画像信号数を計数し、該計数値
に対応する原稿サイズの画像情報を出力すること
を特徴とするフアクシミリ装置である。

圧縮(ライン単位)データG1′、ライン終端符号
EOL1、圧縮(ライン単位)データG2′、ライン終
端符号EOL2……の順でデータを送出する。なお
この信号Sの送出に先立ち送信部5は原稿サイズ
情報Zを受信側FAX2へ送出する。受信側FAX
2は、この原稿サイズ情報Zに対応する応答信号
を送出する手段を有さないので、送信側FAX1
からは、引続いて画像データ(信号S)が送出さ
れることになる。
