A relay having a plastic seal structure has an airtight exterior function that protects the relay from washing with an organic solvent such as trichlorethylene after the relay is mounted on a printed circuit board. Generally, a sealant is applied to the periphery of the fully assembled housing base (hereinafter simply referred to as the base) to the area where the cover fits from above, creating an airtight seal between the base and the cover. It is true.

The main parts of a relay seal having such a conventional structure are shown in a simplified cross-sectional view in FIG. In the figure, 1 is a cover, 2 is a base, and 3 is a fitting portion between the cover 1 and the base 2.
Epoxy-based adhesives are often used as the sealant, and this is applied to the fitting part 3 of the cover or base without any gaps, the cover is covered, and then the sealant is dried and hardened to close the cover. 1
Fix it to the base 2 side.

In this sealant application work, the sealant must be applied continuously on the mating surface, and careful work is required to ensure that no air bubbles remain on the opposing surfaces of the mating part 3, so the work efficiency is low. not good. Furthermore, during the application process, if the sealant is accidentally scattered into the relay assembled in the casing, there will be an inconvenience that will impede the operational performance of the assembled relay.

The purpose of the present invention is to eliminate the above-mentioned disadvantages. In other words, it aims to improve workability by improving the seal assembly structure of the relay. The feature is that the cover is inserted into the base and the fitting part is filled with sealant, creating an airtight structure. It has a rectangular parallelepiped appearance. In an electromagnetic relay, a groove-shaped sealing agent injection portion is provided with an opening side extending all around the periphery along the ridge line surrounding the top surface of the cover or the bottom surface of the base, and a groove hole that communicates the sealing agent injection portion with the fitting portion is provided in the cover. Alternatively, it may be provided in an L-shape at the four corners of the base.

In FIG. 2, 4 is a fitting part between the base and the cover according to the present invention, 5 is a ridge line surrounding the upper part of the cover (a corner part of the periphery forming the outer contour of the upper surface of the cover) 10
A groove-shaped sealing agent injection part is formed around the entire circumference along , and L-shaped groove holes 6 are provided at the four corners and make the injection part 5 and the fitting part 4 communicate with each other. Referring to FIG. 2, the sealing material injection process will be explained.

A fixed amount of sealant is injected into the groove-shaped injection portion 5 using, for example, a dispenser (a container for distributing the sealant). With this injection, the sealant is filled into the cavity 9 and the fitting portion 4 through the L-shaped slots 6 provided at the four corners. In this case, there is no need to fill the sealant up to the slot 6 and the injection part 5, and at least
9 and the fitting part 4 are filled, a sufficient airtight structure can be achieved.

Note that even if the sealant is injected so as to fill up to the injection part 5, it will not flow out due to the viscosity of the sealant itself.

FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view of the cover 1 taken along the A-A' index line in FIG. This is a thick part provided between the holes 6 to supplement the strength of the cover, and since it is a part of the injection part 5, it is formed lower than the shaded part. Note that the strength of the cover does not decrease by injecting and fixing the sealant even in the portion where the slot 6 is formed.

When injecting a sealant into the fitting part of a rectangular parallelepiped electromagnetic relay in this way, the sealant will have difficulty flowing at the four corners, and there is a risk that the sealant will not be able to properly fill those parts and create a good airtight seal. occurs.

FIG. 4 shows an embodiment in which the slot 6 is provided on the base 2 side. 8 in the figure is a groove-shaped sealant injection part formed along the ridgeline 11 surrounding the lower part of the base 2, 6 is an L-shaped groove hole provided at the four corners of the base 2, and the sealant injection operation is not shown. The sealant is injected from above the injection part 8 with the unit upside down, and the fitting part 4 between the base and cover is filled with sealing resin in the same manner as in the first embodiment. shows.

In the case of this embodiment, at least the empty part 9 and the fitting part 4
If the sealant is filled in the relay, a sufficient airtight structure will be obtained, and even if the sealant is filled up to the injection part 8, the sealant will not leak into the inside or outside of the relay.
