Abstract

PURPOSE:To miniaturize an ink ribbon case and to facilitate handling or the replacement of an ink ribbon by providing a cylindrical case receiving an ink ribbon on a supply side and the spool holder holding a spool on a taking-up side in a detachable manner and incorporated in the cylindrical case and forming protruding part recognizable by a sensor to a part of the cylindrical case. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical ink ribbon case 1 receiving an ink ribbon 4 on a supply side, the spool 2 on a taking-up side to which the leading end of the ink ribbon 4 is mounted and spool holders 3A, 3B holding the spool 2 on the taking-up side in a detachable manner and incorporated in the ink ribbon case 1 are provided. The ink ribbon 4 is drawn out of a drawing-out opening part 1A to be passed between a platen 5 and a thermal head 6 and the used part of the ink ribbon 4 printed on paper 8 by the thermal head 6 is taken up around the spool 2 on the taking up side by a taking-up drive shaft 7. The protruding parts 1B, 1C formed to the ink ribbon case 1 are detected by sensors 9A, 9B to detect the kind of the ink ribbon 4 to be used and the alteration of the mode of a printer or the change-over of the program thereof is automatically performed.

口部13Bより引入れられ、巻取スプール14に巻取ら
れる構造となっている。

スを大きく必要とし、輸送時の取扱いずらさおよびこれ
を組込むプリンタ装置自体も大型になるという欠点があ
る。

ルダとを有し、前記円筒型ケースの一部にセンサで認識
可能な突起部又は穴等を形成して構成される。

プラテン5およびサーマルベツド6との間を通し、モー
タで駆動される巻取駆動軸7に取付ければ、サーマルヘ
ッド6により用紙8へ印字されたインクリボン4の使用
済部分は、矢印で示すように、巻取駆動軸7により巻取
られていく。なお、スプールホルダ3Aおよび3Bは巻
取側スプール2が取外された時点で自動的にインクリボ
ンケース1の側面へ収納され、供給側インクリボン4の
走行障害とはならないようにしている。また、インクリ
ボンケース1に形成される突起部IBおよびICはセン
サ9Aおよび9Bにより使用するインクリボン4の黒又
は2色カラー又は4色カラー等の種類を自動的にすなわ
ち、インクリボン4の種類が異なることによるプリンタ
のモード変更やプログラムの切換を自動的に行なえるよ
うにしている。

換を容易にすることができるという効果がある。
