Generally, air mixed in engine cooling water must be removed because it promotes cavitation, reduces the cooling effect, or causes oxidation of metals, and the header tank is one of the methods traditionally used to remove air. It is.

Therefore, this header tank 1 is connected to an engine cooling system 2 via an outflow pipe 3 and an inflow pipe 4 as shown in FIG. This engine cooling system 2
The pump 6 connected to the engine 5 circulates the cooling water from the conduit 7 to the radiator 8 to the conduit 9. When the cooling water passes through the radiator 8, the air flow by the fan 10 removes heat from the cooling water and sends it to the outside. radiates heat.

However, some of this cooling water is in the header tank 1.
When the water returns to the water, it returns at a relatively high temperature and is mixed with air, and moreover, it flows in as a jet stream, so it is undesirable to mix this returned water into the stored water.

Therefore, conventionally, a baffle plate is provided in this header tank, and the returned water collides with the baffle plate to flow into the existing stored water. However, although this baffle plate can be easily attached by welding or the like if the header tank is made of metal, it is difficult to install the baffle plate if the header tank is made of resin.

The present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned problems, and provides a resin header tank in which the weight of the header tank is reduced, a baffle plate can be easily formed, and the rigidity of the header tank itself is improved. The main feature of the header tank is that the header tank is connected to the engine cooling system consisting of a radiator etc. via an outflow pipe and an inflow pipe, and the main body of the header tank is made of resin. A part of the ceiling of the header tank body is bulged downward to form a water collision part at a position higher up and where the water returning from the inflow pipe collides with the header tank body, facing the inflow pipe.

In particular, in the present invention, the inflow pipe 4 is located above the water surface of the header tank and in the immediate vicinity of the inflow pipe 4.
The water collision part 14 is formed to bulge downward on the ceiling surface of the header tank 12 so as to face each other.

This water collision part 14 has an upright wall 14a against which the water ejected from the inflow pipe 4 collides in the air, and an inclined wall 14b following this, and the water from the inflow pipe 4 first collides with this upright wall 14b. do. In this case, most of the water flows along the wall 14a and mixes with the water stored in the tank, but some water flows along the inclined wall 14b of the water collision section 14 and then falls.

Thereby, it is possible to prevent water containing air from being mixed into already stored water while retaining air, and to prevent air from being mixed into the engine cooling system. Furthermore, if the returned water falls directly into the reservoir water, it may be drawn into the reservoir water along with the air in the space 15, but as mentioned above, once it collides with the water collision section 14, such There will be no more. In addition to the cross-sectional structure shown in FIG. 3a, the header tank of the present invention can also have a cross-sectional structure as shown in FIG. 3b according to the embodiment shown in FIG. 2 described above.

As is clear from the above explanation, according to the present invention, the header tank body is molded from resin, and a part of the header tank body is bulged out at a position where water collides with water returning from the inflow pipe into the header tank body. By forming a collision part, this header tank can be made lighter, which not only achieves energy and fuel savings, but also makes it possible to easily remove air from the engine cooling water, and also improves the rigidity of this resin header tank. play.
