Abstract

PURPOSE:To set the printing sound generated from a printer to the range of the printing sound desired by an operator by providing a printing sound detection element, a switch performing the setting of noise, a comparator comparing and collating the output from the detection element with the set value of the switch and a control part changing over a printing mode on the basis of the output of the comparator. CONSTITUTION:A printing sound detection element 2 inputs the output proportional to the level of inputted printing sound 1 to a comparator 3. A digital setting switch 4 is connected to the other input of the comparator 3 and can be set corresponding to a noise level by a user. Therefore, the comparator 3 compares and collates the printing sound level inputted from the printing sound detection element 2 on the basis of the noise level set to the switch 4 to input the result to a control part 5. Further, the control part 5 controls a printing mode change-over part 6 corresponding to the signal inputted from the comparator 3 and operates so as to converge the printing sound level to the noise level set by the switch 4. The change-over of a printing mode is performed by the comparator 3 comparing the output of the setting switch 4 with that of the printing sound detection element 2 through the control part 5 and printing can be performed while the printing mode is automatically changed over.

The present invention has an element for detecting printing noise generated from the printer and a switch for setting the noise level desired by the operator, and compares and matches the output from the detection element with the value of the setting switch, To provide a printer that realizes an optimum printing speed within the range of a noise level set by an operator while switching printing modes by sending the results to a control section.

FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing one embodiment of the present invention. A printing sound 1 generated from the printer is detected by a printing sound detection element 2. In the case of a dot printer, the printing sound generated from the printing mechanism has the following relationship F.

(1)−斉印字におけるドツト数と密接な関係がある。(1) - There is a close relationship with the number of dots in simultaneous printing.

For example, in the case of a 24-bin Kanji printer, there are cases in which printing is performed using only one pin, and cases in which printing is performed simultaneously using all 24 pins, and the printing sound varies greatly depending on these printing conditions.

The print sound detection element 2 inputs an output proportional to the level of the input print sound 1 to the comparator 3. A digital switch 4 is connected to the other input of the comparator 3, and the switch 4 can be set by the user according to the noise level. Therefore, the comparator 3 compares and verifies the print sound level input from the print sound detection element 2 using the noise level set by the switch 4 as a reference, and inputs the result to the control section 5. Furthermore, the control unit 5 includes a comparator 3
The print mode switching unit 6 is controlled in accordance with the signal input from the switch 4, and operates to converge to the noise level set by the switch 4. For example, as explained above, the print mode switching unit 6 has the following three modes of printing.

(1) Normal printing mode (2) Mode for printing at 50% of normal printing (3) Mode for printing at 25% of normal printing The above printing modes can be switched by the operator using the setting switch 4 and the output of the print sound detection element 2. The present invention provides a printer that can perform printing while automatically switching between the above-mentioned printing modes via a control unit 5 using a comparator 3 for comparison.
