In recent years, display devices for computer systems such as workstations have tended to be multi-window systems. Traditional systems with a single display desk did not allow windows and icons to be grouped according to work purpose. In an attempt to solve this drawback, display devices having multiple display desks, such as GMW, have also been proposed (Masaki Hagiya; Regarding GMW window system, Kyoritsu Shuppan bit 1987.3). Note that a display desk is a term used in the above-mentioned GMW, and is made up of a collection of display sheets that correspond to windows of other window systems. Therefore, G.M.
Conventional window systems other than W can be said to consist of a single display desk.

Therefore, it is not possible to transparently combine multiple full screen desks (display desks covering the entire screen) and display them, making it difficult to access other display desks or switching between full screen desks, making it difficult to have multiple display desks. The benefits were not being taken advantage of. The present invention improves the drawbacks of the prior art, and allows multiple full-screen desks to be transparently combined and displayed, making it easy to access other display desks and switch between full-screen desks. The object of the present invention is to provide a display device.

Therefore, accessing other display desks and switching between full-screen desks becomes easy. Furthermore, since the scrolling means scrolls each display desk individually, it is also possible to determine the arrangement of transparent composition so that windows and icons do not overlap between different display desks.

なる。FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing the configuration of an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 1, the display device of this embodiment includes a display object memory 1 that stores display objects that are objects from which images such as window frames and text are generated, and a display object memory 1 that stores display objects on each display desk. a drawing means 2 such as a graphic controller that develops as a bitmap;
A pixel buffer group 3 consisting of a plurality of pixel buffers 31 to 3n each storing a bitmap image, a scrolling means 4 consisting of a plurality of individual scrolling means 41 to 4n capable of scrolling each pixel buffer 131 to 3n, respectively; It consists of a control means 5 which performs transparent synthesis of bitmap images in the pixel buffer to create a final screen image, and a display means 6 such as a CRT display device which performs display. The display object held in the display object memory l is converted into a bit image by the drawing means 2, and written into a pixel buffer group 3 consisting of a plurality of pixel buffers 131 to 3n. A plurality of independently controllable individual scroll means 41 to 4n
The scrolling means 4 scrolls the bit images in the pixel buffers 131 to 3n in response to a control signal input by the user. The control means 5 generates a video signal controlled in accordance with user instructions such as transparent composition of bitmap images of a plurality of display desks from the scroll means 4, display priority order, etc., and displays the display means 6.
to be displayed. FIGS. 2 to 5 each show examples of screens displayed according to this embodiment. FIG. 2 shows an example in which a first display desk that displays a plurality of windows 11 and a second display desk that displays a plurality of icons 12 are transparently combined and displayed at the same time by giving display priority to the former. It is something. In this example, assume that the bitmap image of the first display desk is in pixel buffer 31 and the bitmap image of the second display desk is in pixel buffer 32. The control means 5 controls the pixel buffers 31 and 32.
The images input through the scrolling means 41 and 42 are synthesized. At that time, only the image of the window 11 is displayed for the area of the window 11 on the first display desk (i.e., the area other than the background area on the full screen display desk), and the area other than the area of the window 11 (i.e., the area other than the full screen (a portion of the background area other than the window 11 area on the display desk) is configured to display the input first and second icon areas on the second display desk.
The screen image shown in FIG. 2 is generated by performing calculations on the bitmap images of the display desk and combining them. FIG. 3 shows an example in which only the first display desk displaying the window 11 is scrolled to the right by the scrolling means 41 with respect to the screen displayed in FIG. In this example, the control means 5 generates the screen image shown in FIG. 3 in the same manner as in the case of FIG. 2, except whether or not the input image is scrolled. FIG. 4 shows an example in which the display priorities of a first display desk displaying a window and a second display desk displaying an icon are changed to display icons in the foreground. In this example, the control means 5 displays only the icon image in the icon area on the second display desk, and displays the area other than the icon area on the first display desk, contrary to the example in FIG. Partial images are selectively cut out from the input bitmap images of the first and second display desks so as to display the area of the window 11, and these are combined to generate the screen image shown in FIG. FIG. 5 shows an example in which the control means 5 temporarily prohibits display of a window on the display desk. As described above, according to this embodiment, the display is controlled by the control means 5 so that the background part of the full-screen display desk is transparent and the icons and windows of other full-screen display desks are displayed. It becomes easy to access other display desks and switch between full screen desks. Furthermore, since each display desk can be scrolled individually by the scrolling means 4,
It is also possible to determine the placement of transparent compositing so that windows and icons do not overlap between different display desks.
