Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent or minimize brake squeak by making the specific gravity of central portion of a frictional member larger than that of the peripheral portion. CONSTITUTION:After a frictional member 1 is stuck to a back metal 2, slide surfaces are opposed to each other and set in a heat treatment jig 3. Further, a spacer 4 is interposed in the central portion between both slide surfaces to be subjected to heat treatment while being pressurized. Thus, the end of the frictional member 1 is made softer than the central portion. When pressure on the end is partially raised, the winding inclusion of a disk pad into a rotor can be prevented by hardly changing compression strain due to compression deformation. Thus, the brake squeak can be prevented or minimized.

(Prior Art) Disc pads are used as braking devices for automobiles and the like, but the disc pads generate an unpleasant noise called brake squeal when braking. Therefore, in order to prevent this brake squeal, plate-shaped anti-silk material (stainless steel, rubber coated plate, etc.) is interposed between the backing metal and the piston, and between the backing metal and the yoke, and the caliper, torque, backing metal, etc. The rigidity was improved.

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) According to the above method, the greater the porosity of the friction member, the better the brake squeal is improved. The disadvantage is that the performance on the ring is degraded.

(Means for Solving the Problems) The present inventors have discovered that the inner and outer disc pads exhibit a behavior in which the artificial end of the rotor gets caught up in the rotor, and in this case, the specific gravity of the end is higher than that of the center, resulting in deformation. As a result of various studies, we found that if the material is difficult to handle, the end will easily get caught in the rotor, which in the worst case can cause abnormal vibrations.

He completed the present invention by discovering that by making the ends softer than the center, when the pressure at the ends becomes higher than the center, compression deformation can hardly change the compressive strain and prevent it from getting caught in the rotor. I came to the conclusion.
