In the figure, 1 is the main frame of the escalator installed between the upper floor 1a and the lower floor 1b, and 2 is a circulation system installed in the main frame 1 and mainly composed of rails (not shown) to form an endless passage. An outgoing path 2a is formed on the upper surface side of the main frame 1, and an inverted portion 2b is formed at the end. Reference numeral 3 indicates a number of general steps arranged in a connected manner along the circulation path 2, 4 indicates a wheelchair step provided between the general steps 3, 5 indicates a step plate forming the upper surface of the wheelchair step 4, and 6 indicates a step plate for wheelchairs. An identification mark 7 is painted on the tread plate 5 and indicates the fixed position of the wheelchair.

During dedicated operation, a wheelchair step call button (not shown) is first pressed. With this operation, the wheelchair steps 4 will stop at the entrance of the lower floor 1b if the wheelchair is to be driven uphill. After the handicapped person 7 gets on the wheelchair steps 4, when a wheelchair operation button (not shown) is pressed, the escalator moves upward and the handicapped person 7 is carried upward. Wheelchair steps 4 are on the upper floor 1a
When the escalator reaches 7, the escalator will stop and the
descends to the upper floor 1a. After a certain period of time has passed, the escalator returns to normal operation.

[Problem to be solved by the invention] In the conventional wheelchair escalator as described above, wheelchair steps 4 with painted identification marks 6 are operated. The commercial steps 4 also perform the same function as the general steps 3, and also carry general passengers. Therefore, during normal operation, there is no need to distinguish the wheelchair steps 4 from other general steps 3. Rather, the identification mark 6 causes confusion for passengers who try to ride the escalator thinking it is a general escalator. for example,
When a general passenger tries to get on this escalator, if a wheelchair step 4 with this identification mark 6 happens to come out, the passenger will be confused for a moment and stop, causing the following passenger to collide with it. Accidents may occur. In addition, this identification mark 6 is also a cause of deteriorating the aesthetic appearance during normal operation. To provide a wheelchair escalator which is not distinguishable from the rest, but can be clearly identified as a wheelchair step during dedicated operation.

5 and 6 show another embodiment of this invention, in which a number of identification members 14 are embedded in the groove 5a of the tread 5 of the wheelchair step 4 so as to indicate the fixed position of the wheelchair. In this embodiment, a light emitting diode is used as the identification member 14, and the light is turned off during normal operation, and the battery 15 provided in the wheelchair step 4 emits light during special operation.

In each of the embodiments described above, the identification members 9 and 14 are provided on the tread 5 of the wheelchair step 4, but they may also be provided on the riser (the rising portion between the steps when a difference in step occurs). Providing an identification member on the riser facilitates identification, especially from below.

As explained above, in this invention, an identification member that is deenergized during normal operation and energized during dedicated operation to emit light or change color is provided on the wheelchair steps installed between the general steps of the wheelchair escalator. In normal operation, wheelchair steps are not easily distinguished from other general use steps, preventing damage to the appearance, and in special operation, wheelchair steps can be clearly identified.
