Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the hydraulic mixture excellent in org. compd. retention, etc., and suitable for the production of an org. compd. storage, house, etc., by mixing water, cement or hydraulic binder, bentonite and activated carbon in a specified weight ratio.
CONSTITUTION: A hydraulic mixture for producing watertight grout or cement is produced by mixing 1000 pts.wt. of water, 50-2000 pts.wt. of cement or hydraulic binder, 0-200 pts.wt. of bentonite and at least 5 pts.wt. of activated carbon. The activated carbon should have ≤80 μm grain size, and the amt. of activated carbon to be mixed is appropriately controlled to 5-200 pts.wt. Further, sand, a solidification promoter, a solidification retarder, etc., are added, as required. Consequently, since the obtained hydraulic mixture contains activated carbon, especially the aromatic compds. are excellently absorbed and retained by the mixture.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION (Industrial Application Field) The present invention relates to a novel hydraulic mixture containing activated carbon, which is particularly suitable for organic substances or materials present in the soil, originating from various sources, in particular chemical factories. It has found use in grout or concrete production to prevent or inhibit the migration of organic substances or materials from wastewater decantation sites or, in some cases, by accidental contamination of soil.

Furthermore, in some aspects it is required to be able to store the residues of organic matter under strict safety conditions - either temporarily or ultimately, e.g. in a suitable storage tank or container. . It is therefore advantageous for the container etc. to be particularly airtight, with a view to preventing any contamination of the external environment.

Of course, this activated carbon is known as an absorbent for aromatic compounds and also unsaturated aliphatic compounds;
It was not at all obvious that even by incorporating them into hydraulic mixtures they could be introduced as very good absorbents of organic compounds and especially aromatic compounds.
