Abstract

PURPOSE:To remove only the nicotine content in tobacco to a desired extent as a favorite substance and provide the tobacco capable of producing taste essential thereto by mixing a very small amount of gypsum in any steps for producing the tobacco or the tobacco as a product. CONSTITUTION:A very small amount of gypsum is mixed in leaves of tobacco or a cigarette in any steps for production such as harvesting the leaves of tobacco, drying, finishing and rubbing up or in completing the leaves as those for the tobacco as a product and rolling the leaves in paper. Alternatively, the very small amount of the gypsum may be mixed not in the tobacco itself but in a filter. A high temperature is obtained by lighting the leaves of the tobacco according to the aforementioned method and the gypsum is reacted with nicotine at the above-mentioned temperature and converted into nontoxic and odorless calcium nicotinate.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION [Scope of Industrial Application] This invention relates to cigarettes, and particularly to improving the taste of cigarettes.

The taste of tobacco depends on the tobacco leaf, variety, and soil quality of the place of production, and is significantly affected by the weather conditions in the place of production and the ripening conditions (temperature, humidity) after harvesting. The taste also differs depending on the flavorings mixed in during manufacturing.

As the tobacco leaves grow, nicotine is accumulated in the periphery of the leaves due to oxidation. This nicotinic acid, along with the unique taste of tobacco tree leaves, is used as a flavor for cigarettes.

However, the newer the leaf, the lower the amount of nicotinic acid, and the larger the leaf, the larger the amount of nicotinic acid. Therefore, if cigarettes were manufactured using only the central part of newly grown leaves, it would be a ``tasty'' cigarette, but this would be too uneconomical, so the leaves are used instead.

As mentioned above, the taste of cigarettes differs significantly depending on the region of production and the conditions in the manufacturing process, but no matter which manufacturing method is used, the cigarette leaves themselves contain a large amount of nicotine, and today's health For the above reasons, it is desired to remove this nicotine and produce delicious cigarettes.

Most conventional cigarettes are equipped with filters for the purpose of removing nicotine, but these filters are not sufficiently effective and end up increasing the cost of cigarettes. Currently, there is a demand for cigarettes with less nicotine and better taste, especially for health reasons.
If nicotine is removed excessively, the original aroma of cigarettes will be diminished, and the current situation is that it is almost impossible to remove only nicotine.

In order to achieve the above-mentioned object, the present invention has been made in any of the manufacturing steps such as harvesting tobacco leaves, drying, finishing, and rolling, or when the tobacco leaves are finished as a product and rolled into paper. Very small amounts of gypsum are mixed into cigarette leaves or cigars. Furthermore, the object of the present invention can also be achieved by mixing a very small amount of gypsum into the filter instead of the tobacco leaves themselves.

In this process, water and the humectant propylene glycol are used, but this method of dissolving propylene glycol in water! Approximately 1 to 5 g of gypsum was dissolved in the solution. Gypsum does not easily dissolve in water at room temperature, but when heated, up to several grams can be dissolved as described above. If this water is used in the humidification process, tobacco leaves will contain a very small amount of gypsum.

When you light a cigarette containing gypsum and smoke it, the nicotine contained in the cigarette leaves reacts with the gypsum and becomes tasteless.
It turns into an odorless substance like calcium nicotinate. This allows only the aroma of the cigarette to enter the smoker's mouth. The amount of gypsum-containing liquid to be used should be adjusted according to the preference of the smoker.

In addition to mixing gypsum into tobacco leaves during the manufacturing process as described above, it is also possible to mix a small amount of powdered gypsum into tobacco leaves before they are rolled into paper. Gypsum powder may be mixed into the filter.
