(Prior Art) In recent years, the function of side moldings and the like to protect the vehicle body has become more and more important, and in order to strengthen this function, there is a tendency for moldings to become wider and larger. In addition, as shown in Figure 1, this side molding is arranged approximately in a straight line from the front to the rear of the vehicle body at approximately the center of the side surface of the vehicle body, so its decorative function has become more important than before, and the above-mentioned In the case of a wide and large-sized molding, since it is conspicuous, it is required to have a decorative function.

For this reason, these side moldings, etc. have been changed from single-colored ones (traditionally, black ones have been used in many cases) to pasting decorative films on their surfaces or making the molding surface structure multi-colored. Attempts are being made to change it to something more decorative.

Incidentally, in recent years, there has been a tendency for plastic moldings to be adopted as side moldings in place of conventional metal moldings, and moldings mainly made of plastic extrusion moldings are being frequently used. This is because, in addition to the fact that plastic is lightweight, it is easy to obtain a long molded material with a desired cross-sectional shape by extrusion molding. In addition, this plastic extrusion molding method uses two or more plastic raw materials with different color tones,
Multicolor extrusion molding to form different colored parts parallel to the longitudinal direction of the surface, and furthermore, it is relatively easy to attach or embed decorative films, metal foils, etc. on the surface of the extruded product during extrusion molding, and some Molded products constructed in this manner are used as side moldings, etc. An example of its cross section is shown in FIG. Hereinafter, in order to decorate the surface of the plastic molding, a part of the extrusion molded surface is made with a different color, or a decorative film etc. is attached or embedded on the surface of the extrusion molded product. It's called a piece.

Although these moldings 10 can be conveniently constructed from plastic extrusion molded products as described above, they must be interrupted at opening/closing parts such as doors. For this reason, extrusion molded products are used after being cut to a predetermined length such as the door width, but if the extrusion molded product is cut as is, the cut edges may become sharp and dangerous, and the cut surface may be exposed. Because of this, the cut end is finished in a streamlined shape, or a terminal piece (cap) or the like is attached to the cut end.

As a method for achieving the former streamlined shape,
-130773, cut the end of the molding into a V-shape, etc.
A method has been proposed in which an external force is applied to the side of the molding to bring the cut surfaces into close contact with each other to create a streamlined shape, but as is clear from the publication, the cross section of the molding to which this method can be applied is symmetrical with respect to the center line. In addition, in order to have a streamlined shape, it is necessary that the side portions of the molding have a gently curved surface. Therefore, the range of molding shapes (cross sections) to which this method can be applied is extremely narrow.
Moreover, when the molding surface has decorative strips,
In order to extend the decorative strip to the end of the molding, the position of the decorative strip is limited to the side of the molding, and there is also the problem that the design of the molding cannot be freely designed.

On the other hand, as one method for attaching a cap such as a terminal piece to the end of the latter molding, as disclosed in JP-A-54-3156, the cut end of the extrusion molded product is formed into a cavity for the desired terminal piece. There is an attachment method in which a predetermined end piece is molded by placing the device in a mold and injection molding plastic into the cavity, and simultaneously gluing or welding the end piece to the cut end. Compared to the former method, this method allows a terminal piece of a desired shape to be attached to the end of the molding at the same time as molding.
This has the advantage that there are fewer restrictions on the shape of the molding, etc.

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) However, even with such a structure in which the terminal piece is integrally molded by injection molding, a joining line appears between the molding body and the terminal piece, resulting in a lack of sense of unity between the two. Furthermore, in the case of a molding having a decorative strip on the surface of the molding body as described above, the decorative strip ends at the connection portion between the molding body and the terminal piece, so that the appearance of the molding terminal portion tends to be poor. In addition, because the ends of the decorative strips are spaced apart between adjacent series of moldings across opening/closing parts such as doors, the sense of continuity between the moldings is poor, and even if these series of moldings are arranged in a straight line, there is no sense of unity. I have a tendency to lack.

It has also been proposed to provide a decorative strip on the terminal piece in the same way as the molding body, and to glue or fit the terminal piece to the end of the molding body. This often causes misalignment with that on the molding body, which tends to impair the sense of unity. In addition, in order to achieve this structure when the terminal pieces are integrally molded (adhered) by injection molding, it is necessary to use multicolor molding in which different colored resins are molded several times, and the process, cost, and cost. There is an unavoidable problem that the mold etc. become complicated and the same drawbacks as those of the above-mentioned adhesion etc. appear.

(Function) In the plastic molding of the present invention, a predetermined length of the molding body portion on one side of the strip except for the decorative strip at the end of the molding is removed, and the molding body portion below the strip is moved toward the end of the strip. Accordingly, the end portion of the strip is removed so that it becomes thin, and the end portion of the strip is shaped so that the end portion of the strip is close to the imaginary extension surface of the molding mounting surface, and the periphery of the end portion of the strip is covered with plastic. Since the end piece is formed by using the molding, the decorative strip continues to exist up to the end of the molding. As a result, when a plurality of moldings are arranged in series, a continuous sense of unity is provided between adjacent moldings. In addition, since the decorative strip is continuous from the molding body to the terminal piece, there is no misalignment of the decorative strip at the connection between the terminal piece and the molding body, and the terminal piece and the molding body are without compromising the sense of unity.

The molding end portion processed in this manner is placed in a mold 24, 24' having a desired cavity 23. FIG. 7 is a cross-sectional view of a mold of one embodiment corresponding to the line CC in FIG. A broken line 25 in the figure indicates the outline of the molding body 20. In this embodiment, the cavity surface of the lower mold 24', which is the bottom surface of the molding end portion, is arranged to be substantially flush with the back surface of the molding main body. Note that the bottom surface of this terminal part does not necessarily have to be flat, and when the terminal part is attached to a tire house, etc., it is shaped to follow the curved surface of the tire house, and the shape is different from the one on which the molding is attached. Determined by the surface shape of the part to be attached. The cavity surface of the upper mold 24 is provided with a protrusion 26 that presses against the decorative strip end portion 22'. The width and length of this protrusion 26 are slightly smaller than those of the decorative strip end portion 22', and when pressed, the decorative strip end portion 22'
Both sides and ends are made to protrude. Therefore, the protruding portion will be exposed inside the cavity. Moreover, it goes without saying that its surface is formed to be approximately the same as the surface shape of the decorative strip end portion 22'. Note that this protrusion 26 is provided depending on the position of the decorative strip end portion 22', and is not limited to the central portion in the figure.
Reference numeral 27 denotes a stopper projecting from the lower mold, and is used to position the molding end portion when it is installed in the mold.

FIGS. 8A and 8B are views showing the E-E cross section and the F-F cross section of the molds 24, 24' with the molding end portions installed. As shown in these figures, the end portion 22' of the decorative strip from which both sides and the lower part of the molding body have been removed is pressed against the protrusion 26 of the upper mold 24, deforms, and comes into close contact with the lower mold 24'. do. As a result, the strip end portion 22' is shaped so that the strip end portion approaches the virtual extension surface of the molding attachment surface. At this time, the decorative strip end portion 22'
There is no need for the entire lower cut surface of the mold to be in close contact with the lower die 24'. On the other hand, it is preferable that the molding end parts installed at this time, that is, the decorative strip end part 22' and the molding main body part 21 connected thereto, be heated in advance, and their cavities 23

Thereafter, molten plastic or the like is press-fitted into the remaining cavity 23 through the gate 28. This press-fitted plastic fills the cavity 23 and forms the decorative strip end 22' and the molding body 2.
In addition to welding (adhering) to the cutting and cutting surface of 1,
It covers the upper surface of the protruding portion of the decorative strip end portion 22', and if there is a gap between the lower cut surface of the decorative strip and the lower mold, it enters therebetween. As a result, the periphery of the decorative strip end portion 22' is covered with plastic, and a portion corresponding to the end portion with the desired bottom surface, that is, a terminal piece, is formed and adhered to the molding end portion, and the end portion of the terminal piece is decorated. The end of the service strip will reach. At this time, the heat from the molten plastic or the like heats the end portion 22' of the decorative strip, causing it to permanently deform in the shape of the cavity 23. Thus, the molding end portion (an example of which is shown in FIG. 9) that is removed from the mold after solidification becomes integral with the thermoformed decorative strip end portion 22'.

(Effects) As described above, the decorative strip extending continuously from the molding main body is integrally provided up to the terminal piece at the end of the molding, and the surface of the decorative strip end is attached to the molding attachment surface ( Since it is formed with a curved surface close to the bottom surface of the molding, the end portion of the molding has a very integrated feeling with the main body, and the bottom surface also has a desired curved surface or flat surface.
Therefore, the molding is much more aesthetically pleasing than conventional moldings, and is also easy to install. In particular, since the decorative strips are provided linearly up to the end of the molding on the upper surface of the molding, which has a high decorative effect, the decorative strips are extremely decorative, and even when multiple moldings are arranged in a straight line, the decorative strips The pieces have the effect of increasing the sense of unity. Furthermore, since the decorative strip is located on the upper surface of the molding, there is no restriction on the shape of the side surface of the molding, and by cutting the end of the molding into a desired shape, the end shape of the decorative strip can be freely controlled.
