Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the operating procedure in the case of transmission of an original by providing a prescribed signal detection circuit so as to start the transmission automatically when the circuit detects a reply signal. CONSTITUTION:A CED detection circuit 7 and an off-hook detection circuit 8 are connected to a telephone set 3 in parallel with a ringer detection circuit 5. Through the constitution above, when the circuit 7 outputs it when a facsimile equipment at the receiver side connected through the telephone line detects a reply signal (CED signal) to be oscillated. Moreover, when the telephone set 3 is hooked off, the signal representing it is outputted by the circuit 8. The output signal of the circuits 7, 8 is led to the CPU 1 via an input and output port 6 respectively. The CPU 1 controls each function section when the reply signal from the facsimile equipment at the receiver side is detected by the circuit 7 to start the facsimile transmission. Thus, the operating procedure of depressing a start key after beep tone is heard is not required.

This device mainly includes a CPU that controls each functional section,
It is composed of a modem 2, a telephone 3, and the like. A CML relay 4a1, a transformer 4b, a hybrid circuit 4C, and amplifiers 4d and 4e are provided between the modem 2 and the telephone line connection terminal 4. Further, a ringer detection circuit 5 is connected to the telephone 3, and the output signal of this detection circuit 5 is guided to the CPUI via an input/output capotro. The above configuration is similar to a known facsimile machine.

The CHD detection circuit 7 outputs a signal to that effect when a receiving-side facsimile machine (not shown) connected via a telephone line detects a response signal (CED signal) to be transmitted. Furthermore, when the telephone 3 is in the off-footer state, the off-footer detection circuit 8 outputs a signal to that effect. The output signals of these two detection circuits 7 and 8 are respectively guided to the CPUI via an input/output capotro.

With the above configuration, the operator only needs to set the original and key-in the phone number of the receiving device, and subsequent operations such as checking the beep (CED) and starting facsimile transmission are performed on the device. This will be done automatically on your side. Note that by starting facsimile transmission only when the telephone 3 is in an off-hook state, it is possible to prevent the effects of line noise and the like.
