Prior art and its problems When a toothed belt is used in place of a bicycle drive chain, the toothed belt stretches during driving and loosens on the return side, causing the belt teeth to ride on the pulley teeth on the rear wheel pulley, causing tooth skipping. . In order to prevent such tooth skipping, setting the initial tension of the toothed belt sufficiently high increases rotational resistance and is not practical. For this reason, there has been a proposal to press a belt tensioning roller just before the rear wheel pulley on the return side of the toothed belt, but this is completely inadequate based on the results of experiments.

One of the measures currently in practical use is
As disclosed in Publication No. 47592, a drive pulley to which a crank pedal is fixed is used as a gear, and a toothed belt is hung between the outer circumference of an internal gear that meshes with the drive pulley and the rear wheel pulley, and a toothed belt is applied to the rotational force of the pedal. Therefore, the structure is such that when the internal gear is displaced forward, the return side of the toothed belt is also tensed. however,
This structure has the disadvantage of being complicated and expensive.

On the other hand, a method similar to Utility Model Application Publication No. 56-39649 has also been put into practical use, but this method involves bending the belt from the back at two places to take up the slack, which has the disadvantage that the belt is prone to bending fatigue. Ta. That is, the toothed belt is bent twice in the opposite direction to the original bending caused by winding around the pulley, resulting in an extremely large number of bends.

Means for Solving the Problems The present invention has an idler roller at one end of an arm that is rotatable about an axis supported by a frame, and a toothed pulley at the other end, and the idler roller is provided with a toothed pulley at the other end. The above problem has been solved by a configuration in which the toothed pulley is in contact with the back surface of the tight side belt or the back surface of the slack side belt, and the toothed pulley is in contact with the tooth surface of the slack side belt or the tooth surface of the tight side belt.

Function: When the axes of the front and rear pulleys are adjusted so that there is no slack in the belt, the belt on the tight side and the belt on the slack side are set so that they are bent slightly by the idler roller or toothed pulley, respectively.

When a driving force is applied to the belt, the tension side belt is elastically stretched and the slack side belt tends to sag, but the tension side belt tends to straighten due to the tension acting on the tension side belt. Therefore, the tension side belt will either push up the idler roller on the tension side or push down the toothed pulley.

This movement, via the arm, pushes down the toothed pulley on the side of the slack belt or pushes up the idler roller, thereby taking up the slack in the slack belt.

The length of each part is set so that when the axes of the front and rear pulleys are adjusted so that there is no slack in the belt, the tension side belt 4a and the slack side belt 4b are slightly bent by the rollers 7 and toothed pulleys 9.

Now, in FIG. 1, when the pedal 12 is stepped on and a driving force is applied to the belt 4, the tension side belt 4a is elastically stretched and the slack side belt 4b tends to slacken. However, the tension side belt 4a tends to become straight due to tension, and as a result the idler roller 7 is pushed up, the toothed pulley 9 is pushed down via the arm 6, and the slack side belt 4b is pushed down.
Since the slack of the rear wheel pulley 3 is taken up, tooth skipping does not occur in the rear wheel pulley 3.

In FIG. 2, the length 2 between the shaft 10 of the toothed pulley 9 and the arm shaft 5 is the shaft 8 of the idler roller 7.
By making the length of the arm shaft 5 equal to or longer than the length 1 , the movement due to the increase in tension of the tension side belt 4a can be converted into a large movement of the toothed pulley 9 via the arm 6, so that the elastic stretch of the belt can be reduced. It can be reliably absorbed, thereby reliably preventing tooth skipping on the rear wheel pulley.

In this case as well, for the same reason as mentioned above, it is desirable that the arm length 2 on the idler roller 7 side is equal to or longer than the arm length 1 on the toothed pulley 9 side.
