最近では、H形鋼を使用して建築構造物やその他の構造
物を製作する際、配管や配線あるいはワイヤーなどを配
設できるようにウェブの中央域に湾曲部をもったH形鋼
が利用されるようになってきている。この発明は、この
ような特殊な形状を有するH形鋼を、製造工程の増加や
製造コストの上昇を招くことなしに効果的に熱間圧延し

も余計な工程を必要とする他、製品サイズに合わせた多
数のロールを保有しておく必要があることから製品コス

るロール接触長さが上下で異なる一対の幅可変式水平ロ
ールと、該水平ロールを左右に挟み、ウェブ高さの調整
に役立つ一対の垂直ロールを備えたユニバーサル圧延機
を用意して、この圧延機の水平ロールの対にて圧延素材
のウェブ部両端域近傍を拘束しつつ垂直ロールの対によ
ってウェブの幅縮小圧延を少なくとも一回行うことを特

たウェブ高さをHlとする幅縮小圧延を行う。この時ウ
ェブの中央域は無拘束の状態にあるから、その領域のみ
が座屈してロール接触長さの短い方へ湾曲することとな
る。つづいてユニバーサル圧延機の水平ロール2のロー
ル幅及び垂直ロールのロール間隔をバスごとに調整しつ
つウェブ高さをさらにH2・・・・・・へと縮小する幅
縮小圧延を回繰り返すとこによって所望のウェブ高さに
なるまで圧延を続ける。このような圧延に適用できるユ
ニバーサル圧延機としては具体的に特願昭63−146
947号明細書に開示のものがあるが、設備の設置場所
や設備コストの上昇を招かない範囲で上記のユニバーサ
ル圧延機を数台タンデムに配列して圧延するとこもでき
