Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture the multiple wire-bundle sliding brush with the long electrode service life and stable welding strength by providing a recessed groove having a circular-arcuate shape on the cross section identical with a wire shape on the electrode surface at the side in contact with multiple wire bundle and bringing it into face- contact with the multiple wire bundles. CONSTITUTION:The multiple wire bundles 3 and base material 4 provided with a projection 5 having a circular-arcuate shape on the cross-section on a weld zone are brought into contact with the multiple wire bundle side with an electrode provided with the recessed groove 6 having the circular-arcuated shape on the cross section identical with the wire shape as the upper electrode 7 and with a flat electrode as the lower electrode, the multiple wire bundles 3 and the base material 4 are held between both electrodes and pressurized and electrified and welded at the same time thereby and the multiple wire-bundle brush is manufactured. As a result, since the face contact is made, the pressurizing force is dispersed and deformation is hardly caused and further, since heat generation by and electric current at the time of energizing is also reduced, electrode wear is suppressed and accordingly, the multiple wire- bundle sliding brush with the long electrode service life and stable welding strength is obtained.

(Prior art and issues) For the purpose of stabilizing multi-point contact in sliding contacts used in trimmers, potentiometers, encoders, etc., a multi-wire bundle sliding brush, so-called multi-wire, is made by bundling a large number of ultra-fine wires and welding them to a spring material. Conventionally, in order to manufacture a brush, a multi-wire bundle 3 and a material 4 were sandwiched between upper and lower electrodes I and 2 as shown in FIG. 2, and the welding was carried out by applying pressure and electricity at the same time.

Furthermore, in order to stabilize the welding strength, welding was performed by providing a projection 5 on the composite material as shown in FIG.

When the cause of this was investigated, it was found that the electrode was worn out due to deformation due to multi-wire bundle and point contact stress concentration when pressurized, and heat generation due to electricity being applied to the electrode.Based on this knowledge, the present invention was developed. It has been done.

(Structure of the Invention) The technical means of the present invention to achieve the above object is that in upper and lower electrodes that sandwich a multi-wire bundle and a composite material and pressurize and simultaneously weld by applying current, the electrode surface on the side that comes into contact with the multi-wire bundle is It is characterized by providing a concave groove having an arcuate cross section that is the same as the wire shape, and making surface contact with the multi-wire bundle.

(Function) According to the electrode for manufacturing a multi-wire bundle sliding brush of the present invention configured as described above, since the multi-wire bundle and the electrode are in surface contact, the pressing force is dispersed and it is difficult to deform, and when energized, The amount of heat generated by the current is also reduced, and therefore the wear of the electrodes is suppressed.

The depth of the concave groove on the electrode surface is 1/10 to 21 of the wire diameter.
5 is preferable, and if it is less than 1710, the concave groove has no effect,
Moreover, if it exceeds 215, it becomes difficult to process a concave groove.

However, the results shown in the table below were obtained regarding the number of welds (electrode replacement frequency) and welding strength until the electrode on the side that comes into contact with the multi-wire bundle (the two-part electrode) was replaced (electrode replacement frequency). The electrode on the side that comes into contact with the base material (lower electrode) was replaced every 1000 pieces.

As is clear from this result, in the conventional example, the upper electrode had to be replaced every 100 pieces, but in the example, the lifespan is five times longer, up to 500 pieces, and it is stable. A multi-wire bundle sliding brush with welding strength was obtained.

This is due to the fact that the upper electrode, which is the side that comes into contact with the multi-wire bundle, has a concave groove with an arcuate cross section that is the same as the wire shape.
This is the result of suppressed electrode wear.

(Effects of the Invention) As described above, according to the electrode for manufacturing a multi-wire bundle sliding brush of the present invention, since the multi-wire bundle and the electrode come into surface contact, the pressing force is dispersed, preventing deformation (when energized). Since less heat is generated by the current, wear of the electrodes is suppressed, and therefore a multi-wire bundle sliding brush with stable welding strength and a long electrode life can be obtained, which is an excellent effect.
