Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a hard disk drive which is low in cost, high in reliability, and light in weight by principally constituting the base frame of the drive of a bottom section and partially notched side wall section and constituting the cover of the device of an upper face section, hanging section, and hooking section and setting the angle between the hooking section and top section to 5-45 deg.. CONSTITUTION:A base frame 2 is constituted of a base frame bottom section 21 and base frame side wall section 23 provided with a base frame notch section 22 and a cover 1 is composed of a cover upper face section 11 and cover hanging section 12, with the section 11 covering the upper opening of the frame 2 and section 12 covering the notch section 22. Thus the base frame 2 and cover 1 form an airtight structure. The cover 1 is fixed to the frame 2 with screws 3 after the base frame 2 is sandwiched between a hooking section 13 and upper section 11 of the cover 1. The angle between the hooking section 13 and top section 11 is set to 5-45 deg.. Therefore, a hard disk drive which is low in cost, high in reliability, and light in weight can be obtained.

従来のハードディスクドライブには以下に述べる様な問
題点があった。

にカバーの両側にカバー止めねじ3が必要であり、ねじ
締め工数が多く、かつ部品点数も多かった。

ってしまい不都合であった。剛性が不足するとハードデ
ィスクドライブのホストへの取付力によってベースフレ
ーム200が変形してオフトラックが発生した。

ードディスクドライブであって、前記ベースフレームは
概ね底面部と一部が切り欠かれた側壁部から成り、一方
前記カバーは上面部、たれ下がり部及び引っかけ部から
成り、前記引っかけ部と前記上面部が5°〜45°の角
度をなす事を特徴とする。

下がり部と反対側の辺にのみ設けるだけでカバーをベー
スフレームに固定できる。

り張り出していてもかまわない場合には絞り部14は不

るのはベースフレーム2のほぼ中央部に設けられるディ
スク(図示せず)とこのディスクの両面からデータを読
み書きするヘッド(図示せず)を含むヘッドアセンブリ
(図示せず)の組立順序による。すなわち、ディスクを
まずベースフレーム2に組込み、しかる後にディスク上
下に接するヘッドを組む為、ディスクの外側全周にわた
ってディスク付近にベースフレームの側壁があると組込
みの邪魔となる為である。
