機の光源のレンズ系の間に挿入して投影表示を行
なう小型液晶表示装置であり、板状のハウジング
を略二つの領域に分け、その一方の領域に収納さ
れたＳＴＮモードの液晶パネルと、該液晶パネル
に重ねて配置したＳＴＮモードの位相補償パネル
と、他方の領域に収納された外部信号を取り入れ
て前記液晶パネルを駆動する制御回路とからなる
ことを特徴とする小型液晶表示装置。 (2) 位相補償パネルは光源側に、液晶パネルは
レンズ系側にそれぞれ配置したことを特徴とする
