Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate working of a fiber-reinforced metal by spraying a molten metal, then rapidly cooling the molten metal to form a cylindrical body, winding the fibers on the surface thereof, spraying the molten metal thereon, thereby depositing the molten metal on the fibers. CONSTITUTION:Particles 3 are injected in the form of mists from the molten metal 1 by using a sprayer 2. The metal particles 3 are rapidly cooled to form the cylindrical body 6 on a mandrel 5. The fibers 7 are arranged in an axial direction and wound on the surface of the cylindrical body 6. The molten metal particles 3 are sprayed thereon and the deposition is continued to form the cylindrical body 6 having a desired thickness. The fiber reinforced metal is easily worked in this way.

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) Therefore, the present invention provides a method for manufacturing fiber-reinforced metal as a new material that eliminates the drawbacks of conventional fiber-reinforced plastic by applying the above-mentioned technology. Because a cylindrical body is the easiest shape to manufacture due to the nature of the above technology, the present invention aims to provide a method for manufacturing a fiber-reinforced metal cylindrical body.

(Means for Solving the Problems) In order to achieve this object, the method for manufacturing a fiber-reinforced metal cylindrical body of the present invention involves spraying molten metal and then rapidly cooling the metal into a semi-molten and semi-solidified state. a step of depositing particles in a cylindrical shape to form a cylindrical body; a step of axially arranging and winding fibers on the surface of the cylindrical body; and continuing deposition of the molten metal particles by spraying on the surface of the cylindrical body around which the fibers are wound. The method is characterized by a step of forming a cylindrical body having a desired thickness.

Molten metal 1 is passed through an atomizer 2 to spray metal particles 3 in the form of a spray. The metal particles 3 are rapidly cooled when exposed to the outside air and become semi-molten and semi-solid. A mandrel 5 rotated by a drive mechanism 4 is disposed below the sprayer 2, and the metal particles 3 sprayed in the form of a spray are deposited on this mandrel 5.

Since the mandrel 5 is rotating, the metal particles 3 are deposited in a cylindrical shape to form a cylindrical body 6. When the thickness of the deposited metal particles 3 reaches a preset thickness, the fibers 7 are arranged and wound around the surface of the cylinder 6 along the axial direction of the cylinder. Since the strength of the cylindrical body varies depending on the number of times of wrapping, the number of times of wrapping is determined based on the desired strength.

Metal particles 3 are placed on the surface of the cylindrical body 6 wrapped with mAl1.
The spraying is continued to deposit metal particles 3, thereby forming a cylindrical body 6 having a desired thickness. A cross-sectional view of this cylindrical body 6 is shown in FIG. This figure is a cross-sectional view of the fiber 7 wound in three rows radially outwardly, and when the fiber 7 is wound multiple times, it is preferable that the fiber 7 be arranged in layers in the metal like this.
