Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a synthetic resin matrix system comprising a specific polymer, an organic solvent and a plasticizer, compounded with a cure-promoting medicine, and useful for storing the medicinal substance or releasing the medicinal substance for a long period. CONSTITUTION: This synthetic resin matrix system is obtained by compounding a matrix comprising a particulate, hydrophilic and water-swelling polymer [e.g. a hydroxy(2-4C alkyl) methacrylate polymer], an inactive nontoxic water- immiscible organic solvent (e.g. polyethylene glycol) and a hydrogen-bound plasticizer (e.g. dimethyl sulfoxide) with an epithelial cell growth factor or a cure-promoting medicine together with a treating article component. The matrix system comprises 15-50wt.% of the polymer, 30-65wt.% of the solvent and <=20wt.% of the plasticizer. The matrix system is molded between a pair of transparent backing sheets to give a wound-treating article.
