The present invention relates to improvements in Pd-Ru based contact materials. Due to its excellent wear resistance, Pd-Ru is used as a contact material for various relays. In particular, in relays that use direct current or alternating current and are substantially close to direct current through phase control, the + pole side contact changes to the - pole side contact, or from the single pole side contact to the + pole side, in proportion to the number of switching cycles. This causes a transfer to the contact point on the side. The direction of transfer at this time varies depending on the voltage, current, and type of load. After that, locking occurred,
It becomes impossible to disconnect, making it impossible to use the relay.
Pd-Ru has excellent wear resistance and is less prone to transfer, so it is often used as a DC electrical contact material. However, as relays such as DC relays and switches are becoming smaller and more sophisticated, there is a need for contact materials that can withstand switching from small currents to large currents. As devices become smaller, there is a trend toward smaller contact dimensions, lower contact force and separation force, and narrower spacing. For this reason, contact failure occurs due to an increase in contact resistance, which has not been a problem in the past, even with Pd-Ru contacts, and the resulting heat generation often causes transfer and locking. The present invention has been made in view of the above points, and provides a Pd-Ag-Ru based electrical contact material that is highly practical and has wear resistance, stable contact resistance, and little transfer. It is. In the present invention, Pd contains 5 to 30 wt% of Ag and 6 to 30 wt% of Ru.
This is a DC electrical contact material containing 15wt%. Ru is a metal in the platinum group that is easily oxidized by Os, and easily forms oxides due to arc heat, etc.
Although it is effective against transfer, when the contact force becomes small, Ru is oxidized more than necessary and the contact resistance increases, eventually causing a locking phenomenon. Therefore, an attempt was made to solve the above problem by adding Ag, which has the highest electrical conductivity, to stabilize the contact resistance. The reason for limiting Ag to 5 to 30wt% is that
If it is less than 5wt%, it will not have the effect of stabilizing the contact resistance, whereas if it exceeds 30wt%, it will be stabilized, but the melting point will drop, the wear resistance will be poor, and locking will occur due to transfer, so 5 to 30wt% is appropriate. be.
The reason for limiting Ru to 6 to 15 wt% is that if it is less than 6 wt%, wear resistance will be poor, and if it exceeds 15 wt%, contact resistance will increase, which cannot be suppressed by adding Ag, and processing will become extremely difficult. 6~15wt
% is reasonable. Next, in order to clarify the performance of the contact material according to the present invention, specific examples and conventional examples thereof will be described. Example 1 Diameter 5 made of Ag5wt%, Ru10wt%, balance Pd
mm, 1mm thick fixed contact and 4mm diameter, 1.1mm thick
A 5R movable contact was placed facing the contact test sample. Example 2 Diameter 5 made of Ag20wt%, Ru15wt%, balance Pd
mm, 1mm thick fixed contact and 4mm diameter, 1.1mm thick,
A 5R movable contact was placed facing the contact test sample. Conventional example Made of Ru10wt%, balance Pd, diameter 5mm, thickness 1mm
A contact test sample was made by matching a fixed contact with a movable contact of 4 mm in diameter, 1.1 mm in thickness, and 5R. Next, the above-mentioned Examples 1 and 2 and the conventional example are applied to DC voltage.
12V, current 5a, lamp load, switching frequency 15 times/min,
The results of a test conducted with a contact force of 15 g until locking occurred due to transfer are shown below.

[Table] From this table, it can be seen that the implemented product has lower contact resistance than the conventional product, so it generates less heat and can open and close more times before locking occurs. Although the present invention is limited to direct current use, the present invention can also be applied to use under conditions similar to direct current, such as phase control of alternating current loads. As described in detail above, according to the present invention, an electrical contact having a long life and high reliability can be obtained by suppressing the increase in contact resistance of Pd-Ru by adding Ag.
