[Prior art] As an exhaust system for an outboard motor, an exhaust pipe connected to the engine is installed vertically inside a casing, and after engine cooling, waste water is discharged around the exhaust pipe, thereby preventing overheating of the exhaust pipe and the casing due to exhaust heat. Some products are designed to prevent salt buildup on the casing and corrosion caused by peeling off the paint. However, in such an exhaust system, when the waste water discharged around the exhaust pipe inside the casing falls or is transmitted to the outer surface of the exhaust pipe and reaches its opening, the exhaust pulsation inside the exhaust pipe causes the waste water to be exhausted. Water droplets may get sucked into the pipes and reach the engine cylinders, causing misfires. When using an outboard motor at sea, salt may adhere to the exhaust passage, causing corrosion or increased passage resistance. As a result, there is a risk that the passageway will be blocked.

そこで、本出人願は、上記船外機の排気装置と

Therefore, the applicant's application is based on utility model application No. 172785 of 1975 (Utility Model Application No. 172785) as an exhaust system for the above outboard motor.
No. 53-88996), they have already proposed an ``exhaust device in which a lower end of an exhaust pipe is provided with an inclined outer surface that projects diagonally downward and outward.''

The above-mentioned already proposed exhaust system guides the drainage water flowing down along the outer surface of the exhaust pipe along the sloping outer surface to a position away from the opening of the exhaust pipe, and then falls from the outer edge of the slanted outer surface. This eliminates the influence of exhaust pulsation on drainage and prevents drainage from being sucked into the exhaust pipe.

[Problems to be Solved by the Invention] However, in the exhaust system already proposed above, the movement speed of the waste water at the time of separation from the inclined outer surface of the exhaust pipe and immediately after separation is relatively small. Therefore, it is not possible to completely eliminate the influence of exhaust pulsation on such drainage, and it is difficult to reliably prevent drainage from being sucked into the exhaust pipe.

An object of the present invention is to reliably prevent the waste water from being sucked into the exhaust pipe when the waste water after engine cooling is discharged to the outer surface of the upper end of the exhaust pipe to prevent overheating of the exhaust pipe and thus the casing.

[Means for Solving the Problems] The present invention provides an exhaust system for an outboard motor in which an exhaust pipe connected to the engine is installed vertically within a casing, and waste water after cooling the engine is discharged into the exhaust pipe. The outer surface of the middle part near the lower end is provided with a sloped flow surface that projects outward while forming a downward slope. It is arranged so that it can be spaced apart both horizontally and vertically from the outer edge.

In the above, the water droplets at and immediately after leaving the slanted flow surface are separated from the outer edge of the slanted flow surface, which is spaced not only horizontally but also vertically from the opening of the exhaust pipe. Therefore, it is not affected by exhaust pulsation and is not sucked into the exhaust pipe.

As mentioned above, the water droplets that fall in the air away from the sloped flow surface and fall on the horizontal side of the exhaust pipe opening should fall sufficiently away from the outer edge of the lowest end surface around the opening. It falls at a high falling speed due to the fact that it has already passed a certain falling distance. Therefore, here as well, the exhaust gas is not affected by exhaust pulsation and is not sucked into the exhaust pipe.

The water pump 24 pumps up outside water as cooling water through a water suction pipe 25 by rotating an impeller fixed to an intermediate portion of the drive shaft 17, and supplies it to the water jacket of the engine 16 through a water supply pipe 26. It can be pumped. In addition, the drainage after cooling the engine is carried out through the drainage passage 2 of the engine 16.

Here, a drain hole 28 is provided at the upper end of the exhaust pipe 22 and communicates with a drain passage 27 of the engine 16.
A pair of left and right ribs 29A are provided at the intermediate portion near the upper end or near the lower end of the exhaust pipe 22 so that the water discharged from the drain hole 28 can flow down along the outer surface of the exhaust pipe 22. A drain 30 defined by 29B is provided.

Therefore, in the middle part near the lower end of the exhaust pipe 22, in the part sandwiched between the ribs 29A, 29B and forming the lower end of the drain groove 30, there is a diagonally downward direction toward the outside, that is, the inner surface 15A of the casing 15. A protruding sloped flow surface 31 is provided. Also,
At the lower end of the exhaust pipe 22, the inclined flow lower surface 31 is provided.
An outer surface 32 is provided that extends further inwardly and downwardly than the outer edge.

That is, the outer edge of the inclined lower flow surface 31 that protrudes most outwardly is spaced both horizontally and vertically from the outer edge of the lowermost end surface where the exhaust pipe 22 opens.

After the engine 16 has been cooled, the water reaches the drain groove 30 via the drain passage 27 and the drain hole 28, and is transmitted to the outer surface of the exhaust pipe 22 and flows down. It separates from the outer edge of the inclined downstream surface 31, which is spaced both horizontally and vertically from the opening 23 of the exhaust pipe 22, and falls downward into the air.

Here, the water droplets at the time when they leave the inclined downward flow surface 31 and immediately after that point are separated from the opening 23 of the exhaust pipe 22 not only in the horizontal direction but also in the vertical direction. Since the air is separated from the air, it is not affected by exhaust pulsation and is not sucked into the exhaust pipe 22.

As described above, water droplets that leave the inclined flow down surface 31 and fall in the air and fall on the horizontal side of the opening 23 of the exhaust pipe 22 are removed from the opening 23.
The object falls along a falling path sufficiently far away from the outer edge of the lowermost end surface around the object 3, and at a high falling speed because it has already passed a certain falling distance. Therefore, here as well, the exhaust gas is not affected by exhaust pulsation and is not sucked into the exhaust pipe 22.

It scatters in the direction of inclination of the inclined downstream surface 31, reaches the inner surface 15A of the casing 15, flows down along the inner surface 15A, and is then discharged to the outside from the exhaust port 20 along with the exhaust gas.

That is, according to the embodiment described above, the waste water after cooling the engine is not sucked into the exhaust pipe 22, but flows onto the outer surface of the exhaust pipe 22 and the casing 15.
The exhaust gas flows down along the inner surface 15A of the casing 15, making it possible to effectively prevent overheating of the casing 15 due to exhaust heat.
