(Prior technology) In recent automobiles and trains, in order to improve the comfort inside the cabin, deodorizing devices are installed near the duct outlets as part of the air conditioning equipment. It is designed to remove material odors of wood, various paint odors, smoking odors, body odors, etc. As a deodorizing element, it is easy to handle and has the advantages of low ventilation resistance, so it can be used in the form of a grid as shown in Figure 5A or as shown in Figure 5A. Honeycomb-type activated carbon elements a and b with circular holes such as the following are used.

(Problem to be Solved by the Invention) By the way, the above deodorizing elements a and b are generally made by storing raw material m, which is powdered charcoal mixed with an appropriate amount of binder, in cylinder c as shown in figure C, and operating plunger Ca. and extrude the raw material m from a die D at the tip and form it into a lattice-like plate or a honeycomb-like plate,
It is made by putting it in a firing activation furnace and activating it under the required temperature and atmosphere, and it has the advantage of being easier to use compared to granular or lump-like products. During molding, the inner surface of each lattice hole or honeycomb hole is smoothed, reducing the porosity that characterizes activated carbon, which reduces the contact area with the treated odor, making it difficult to obtain a sufficient adsorption effect. There is, and since it is a plate-shaped molded object, the shape cannot be changed,
It is inconvenient that a large setting area is required in relation to the processing capacity, and that the size of the ventilation hole cannot be reduced below a certain level (the contact area cannot be increased).

Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a deodorizing element that can be changed to a smaller installation area without reducing the porosity of activated carbon, and in which the size of the ventilation holes can be appropriately selected.

In Fig. 1, 1 is a strip-shaped activated carbon paper with a thickness of about 0.2 mm to 1 mm, and there are those made from activated carbon fibers that are made into paper as is, and those that have activated carbon particles attached to the surface of the sheet paper via a binder. Alternatively, it is made of a paper made by mixing activated carbon powder with pulp as a binder, and has a required number of uneven stripes 1b, 1c waved in the width direction, and alternately ridged in the longitudinal direction. Folded piece 1a of the required length (height in the figure) so as to form a trough and a trough.
are provided continuously, and slits 3a, 3b are provided at the fold lines 2a, 2b between the peaks and valleys, leaving both side edges, and a large number of folds 1a are stacked one on top of the other. When element e is used, the wavy grooves 1b of each adjacent folded piece 1a come into contact with each other,
The protrusions 1c face each other, or the protrusions 1c abut each other, and the grooves 1b face each other, forming a large number of air passages along each folded piece 1a.

First, as shown in FIG. 2A, a series of strip-shaped activated carbon paper 1 is passed between the upper and lower pair of Golgate rollers 5a, 5b to form the required number of uneven stripes 1b, 1c in the longitudinal direction, and then, The activated carbon paper 1 on which these uneven stripes 1b and 1c are formed is moved between a pair of upper and lower shirring rollers 7a and 7 that mesh like gears as shown in FIG.
A large number of folded pieces 1a of a required length are formed in the longitudinal direction by pleating process (b), and then fold lines 2a, 2b of the peaks and valleys of the pleated activated carbon paper 1 are cut using a cutting machine as shown in (c) of the same figure. Slits 3a and 3b are bored on the top, leaving both side edges (however, the order of the pleating process and the formation of the slits may be reversed), and an element e of the required length is formed. (Fig. 2 C is the same as Fig. 1, but in order to make the slits 3a and 3b clearly visible, the uneven strips 1b and 1c are not shown and are made flat.) Then, this pleated element e is Raise the slits 3a and 3b vertically as shown in Figure 3A (however, the ventilation passages will be horizontal), wrap them around the mesh or porous inner cylinder 8, and attach the same ends to the upper and lower ends. If annular end plates 9a and 9b are provided as shown in Figure B, it can be used as a donut-shaped deodorizing device that requires a small installation area in relation to processing capacity. If the end plates 10a and 10b in the form of rectangular plates are attached to the front and rear side channels as shown in FIG. 4, it can be used as a plate-shaped deodorizing device.

(Effects of the Invention) As described above, in this invention, the activated carbon paper is made by unevenness in the longitudinal direction and pleat processing without extrusion molding, so the element surface is not smoothed and maintains sufficient porosity. In addition, a large number of ventilation paths can be formed along each folded piece by the uneven stripes in the longitudinal direction, and a high deodorizing effect can be obtained due to the large contact area between the element and the processing air. Since the ventilation passages are linear along each folded piece, the ventilation resistance is small, and the size of the ventilation passages can be freely changed by selecting the size of the uneven stripes. Furthermore, the elements are shaped like donuts. It is useful as a deodorizing element because it can be used by changing its shape into a mold or plate.
