Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a recording image having good image quality and good fixability regardless of the surface state of an image receiving body by transferring the recording image formed on the resin layer of an intermediate sheet to the image receiving body along with at least a part of the resin layer. CONSTITUTION:The heating unit 8a of a thermal head 8 generates heat selectively by the signal from a recording signal source 15, in such a state that an intermediate sheet 3 and a thermal transfer sheet 6 are in contact with each other between an A-platen 7 and the thermal head 8 under pressure, to form a melting part 16 of an ink material layer and the ink material is transferred to the surface 2a of the resin layer of the intermediate sheet 3 to form the primary recording image 17 corresponding to the recording signal on the intermediate sheet 3. Thereafter, the intermediate sheet 3 and an image receiving body 11 are brought into contact with each other under pressure between a heating roller 12 and a B-platen 13 so that the primary recording image 17 is brought into contact with the image receiving body 11 to be heated from the heating roller 12 and the primary recording image 17 is transferred to the surface 11a of the image receiving body along with at least a part of the resin layer 2 to obtain a final recording image 18.
