Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer printer with a reduced thermal transfer head cleaning time capable of contriving the cost reduction of he device by mounting cleaning members for cleaning a thermal transfer head on a platen out of a printing area thereof. CONSTITUTION:Cleaning members 2a, 2b for cleaning a thermal transfer head 3 are mounted on the peripheral parts of a platen 1 out of a printing area. Therefore, when the thermal transfer head 3 s to be cleaned, the thermal transfer head 3 is moved to a position mounted with the cleaning member 2a or 2b, an LF motor 4 is rotated in a direction of an arrow R1 or R2, and the thermal transfer head 3 is depressed against the cleaning member 2a or 2b. In this manner, the thermal transfer head 3 can be easily cleaned.
