〔産業上の利用分野〕
本発明は、弾性、屈曲性にすぐれ、砥粒率の高いPVA
砥石及びその製造方法に関するものPVA砥石は、金属
類の鏡面仕上、光学部品の最終仕上、電子部品の精密研
摩、曲面機械一般研摩に用いられている。従来のPVA
砥石は、ポリビニルアルコール樹脂、砥粒及び発泡剤を
混合し、所定の金型で発泡成型することにより製造され
ている。しかし、得られたPVA砥石は、その可撓性及
び内部に気泡を有する為、研摩特等一時的な応力が集中
すると脆くて欠けることがたびたび発生するという問題

を低くして用いる必要があった。従って、砥粒率などを
考慮すると、不織布ウェブのW、P、Uが多くなり、含
有水分量が多くなる為、湿潤状態でロール状に巻締めた
場合、ロール中心部の水分を飛散させるのに長時間を要
し、生産性が極度に低下する。また、砥粒率を高めるこ

本発明は、上記欠点を改良するものであり、水溶性ポリ
ビニルアルコール繊維100%でウェブを形成し、ポリ
ビニルアルコール樹脂溶液の散布により仮止めし、不織
布を形成した後、上記仮止め不織布を構成する繊維表面
に粘着性を付与し、水溶性ポリビニルアルコール樹脂粉
体、砥粒混合物を散布により充填固着せしめ、次に水の
散布により湿潤状態となし、ロール状に巻締め、乾燥加

ール樹脂粉体(イ)の溶解により強固に固着され、砥粒
率が高く緻密で弾性があり、研削、研摩性に優れた砥粒

なく短時間で済ませることかでき生産効率を大巾に高め
る事ができる。又、砥粒とポリビニルアルコール樹脂粉
体との混合散布により砥石中に含有される砥粒率が高く
なり、研摩、研削能力が向上し、砥石を構成する骨格繊
維に水溶性ポリビニルアルコール繊維製不織布を用いた
ことにより弾性を有し、被研削面にもよくなじみ、欠け
、割れ等の発生も防止される等の優れた効果を有するも

剤によって砥粒と水溶性ポリビニルアルコール樹脂粉体
とが均一に固着された研摩基材を構成し、該研摩基材が
湿潤状で渦巻状に巻締め一体に成型されてなることを特
