Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily and surely prevent generation of a projecting part due to the plated film of a resin product by fitting the shielding parts opposed with the interval to the end face parts of the product part made of a resin member via the connecting parts and electroplating the resin member. CONSTITUTION:A product part 32 having an ornamental shape consists of the upper and lower channel-shaped cross sectional parts 38, 38, an even part 40 connecting them and a covered cylinder part 42. The shielding parts 36 opposed with the interval in the lengthwise directional end faces 32A of the product part 32 are fitted in an integral structure to the resin member 30 having the product part 32 via the connecting parts 34 which are lengthened from the rear of the product part 32 and connected. The shielding parts 36 are made to a rectangular structure and preferably made to the shapes surrounding the above end faces 32A. The resin member 30 is arranged in a plating vessel and electroplated. Thereafter the shielding parts 36 are removed by cutting the connecting parts 34. Thereby plating current is prevented from being collected to the end faces 32A of the product part 32 and the resin product such as an ornament which is free from a projecting part due to a plated film and electroplated is obtained.

Conventionally, this kind of ornaments were generally placed on the front grill with a step, one on top of the other, but as shown in Figures 9 and 10 (partial perspective view of the X section in Figure 9). As shown, a design has been considered in which the ornament 10 (the shaded part in FIG. 9) is arranged flush with the front grille 12 to express a sense of unity with the front grille 12.

The electroplating of the ornament 10 as described above is performed in the 13th
As shown in the figure, a large number (for example, 8) of racks 24 are suspended from a bar 22 placed above the plating tank 20, and a large number of (for example, 24) ornaments 10 are attached to the racks 24. Plating solution 2 with rack 24

The ornament 10 arranged as described above has the desired current density in the part facing the metal plate 28 serving as the anode, and can obtain the desired plating layer. When installed, the current concentrates and the current density increases at both ends (in the vehicle width direction), and especially at the edges of the ends (see the arrows in Figure 14 and Figure 15), the current density increases locally to an extremely high level. A protrusion 16 like this is generated. The phenomenon in which the protrusions 16 occur in this manner is called flower blooming due to its shape.

If the plating film thickness is thin, the protrusion 16 may not be a problem because the amount of protrusion is small in proportion to the film thickness.
If the thickness of the plating film is increased from the standpoint of improving the corrosion resistance of the plating layer, the amount of protrusion increases, resulting in the above-mentioned problems. Furthermore, since the appearance is significantly impaired, the product becomes defective even when viewed as a single product.

Therefore, it may be possible to reduce the concentration of current by adding a radius to the edge portions at both ends of the ornament 10, but in this case, as shown in FIG. 16, the front grill 1
Since a recess is created between the two, it becomes impossible to express the desired sense of unity.

Additionally, a measure has been taken to prevent current concentration by attaching a shielding plate to the rack 24 so as to be interposed between the current concentration part of the ornament 10 and the metal plate 28 serving as an anode. The work is extremely complicated because the position must be adjusted. Moreover, in this type of work where a large number of items must be processed in a short period of time, the position of the shield plate may not be properly adjusted, and a high proportion of products with protrusions 16 are manufactured compared to conventional methods. It was the situation.

The problem caused by the occurrence of such protrusions 16 is that when using the plating method as described above, the ornament 1 as described above is
This is not limited to 0, but can occur unavoidably in products with thick plating films, and even if the relationship with the mating part is not a problem, the problem of significantly impairing the appearance remains. There was a desire to develop technology to prevent the occurrence of 16.

In the method of manufacturing an electroplated resin product according to the present invention, the resin member before being made into a resin product is adjusted to the positional relationship between the product part having the same shape as the product and the anode when placed in the plating solution. It integrally includes a shielding part that faces the end face part of the product part with a gap where the current tends to concentrate due to the product shape, and a connecting part that extends from the back side of the product part and connects the shielding part and the product part. After applying electroplating to this resin member, the connecting part is cut,
The product part is obtained as an electroplated resin product.

In this product portion 32, the tip end surface of each leg portion 38A of the U-shaped cross-sectional portion 38 and the entire back surface of the flat portion 40 are in contact with the bottom wall of a recess formed in the front grille. This front grill also has the same shape as the front grill 12 described above with reference to FIGS. 9 to 11.

The connecting portion 34 protrudes from the back surface of the base portion 38B of the U-shaped cross section 38 of the product portion 32, and at the same time protrudes in the longitudinal direction of the product portion 32. The connecting portion 34 in this embodiment is a portion that used as a runner (runner) when molding the ornament 10 explained in FIG. It may also be made to protrude from the top. Further, depending on the case, it is also possible to make it protrude from the back surface of the product portion 32 other than the base portion 38B.

There are no particular restrictions on the connecting part 34 as long as it has the strength and rigidity to support the shielding part 36, but in this embodiment, the product part is passed through the connecting part 34 from the shielding part 36 during molding. The condition that allows the resin material to flow into the connecting portion 32 and the strength condition that allows the connecting portion 34 to be easily cut by hand without using tools etc. are simultaneously satisfied.

The shielding portion 36 prevents current from concentrating on the longitudinal end surface 32A of the product portion 32, and the first shielding surface 36A facing the longitudinal end surface 32A prevents current from concentrating on the longitudinal end surface 32A of the product portion 32, as shown in FIG. The shape is such that the longitudinal end face 32A can be covered and hidden with sufficient margin. Further, in this embodiment, the shielding portion 36 includes a first shielding surface 36A.
A second shielding surface 36B is formed that bends at a right angle from both ends of the product portion 32 toward the product portion 32.

If the separation distance between the first shielding surface 36A and the second shielding surface 36B and the product part 32 is too large, the current shielding effect will be low, and if it is too small, the longitudinal end surface 32A etc. will not reach the desired current density. Therefore, the optimum separation distance is determined in advance through experiments.

A large number of the resin members 30 having the above structure are attached to ranks and immersed in the plating liquid in the plating tank so that the product portion 32 assumes the same posture as explained in FIG. 13, as shown in FIG. It faces the metal plate 28 which becomes the anode. Then, when a direct current is applied using the resin member 30 as a cathode and the metal plate 28 as an anode, electroplating on the resin member 30 is started.

At this time, the current is concentrated on both longitudinal end faces of the resin member 30, that is, on the outer end face of the shielding part 36, and the current density increases in this part, but the longitudinal end 32A of the product part 32 is The current is blocked by the first shielding surface 36A and the second shielding surface 36B, and the current density does not increase.

Therefore, the outer end face plating film of the shielding part 36 becomes thicker than other parts, and a protrusion may be formed at the edge part, but the longitudinal end face 32A of the product part 32 does not have a thick film and has no edge part. No protrusions are generated in the product portion 32, and the product portion 32 is plated with a uniform film thickness throughout.

After the electroplating is completed, the resin member 30 taken out from the plating tank and removed from the rack has the connecting portion 34 cut near the boundary with the product portion 32 and the shielding portion 36
And the connecting part 34 integrated with the shielding part 36 is discarded. As shown in FIG. 6, the remaining product portion 32 has a very small portion of the connecting portion 34 protruding from the back surface of the base 38B of the U-shaped cross section 38, but this portion is not formed into the front grille. Since it is spaced apart from the bottom wall of the recess, no problem will occur. Also, this connecting part 3
Although the cut surface of 4 is not plated, this part is hidden behind the product part 32 when it is attached to the front grill, so the same problem does not occur.

In addition, as shown by the chain line in FIG. 6, if the connecting portion 34 is cut off at a portion that protrudes in the longitudinal direction of the product portion 32, the chain line portion may be manually polished using a file.

In the above embodiment, the shielding M portion 36 is provided with a first shielding surface 36A and a second shielding surface 36B in order to enhance the shielding effect, but the second shielding surface 36B is not essential and is shown in FIG. It is also possible to provide only the first shielding surface 36A so that the first shielding surface 36A can be used.

The conditions of the first shielding surface 36A vary depending on the electroplating conditions, but - for boat fishing, it is preferable that the shape is at least equal to the longitudinal end surface 32A of the product section 32 when viewed from the longitudinal direction of the product section 32; Preferably, a shape that is at least one size larger than this is generally good.

Further, in the above embodiment, the longitudinal end of the flat part 40 of the product part 32 is located at a position recessed from the longitudinal end of the U-shaped cross-sectional part 38, so that current can flow around regardless of the presence or absence of the shielding part 36. Since there is almost no shielding surface, the first shielding surface 36A is essentially unnecessary for this portion. However, if the shielding part 36 is made into a split structure for this purpose, it is necessary to ensure strength and rigidity by increasing the cross-sectional area of the connecting part 34 or increasing the number of connecting parts 34, and the shielding part 36 and This is not a good idea because the amount of resin material required for molding the connecting portion 34 increases and the metal plate 28 serving as the anode wears out quickly.
