Abstract

PURPOSE: To accurately measure a distance without being affected by how a camera is held nor the arrangement of a subject by dividing the light beam from a light source into three vertically and moving the light source horizontally and mechanically.
CONSTITUTION: A prism 11 is arranged on the projection side of a projection lens 2 and has a surface 11A perpendicular to the optical axis of the incident light and slanting surfaces 11B and 11D. The light beam from the light source 1 is therefore split into three light beams to generate measured distances Pa, Pd, and Pb in the center and upper and lower parts in a photography range 10. Further, the light source 1 is moved by a motor in parallel to the length of a base line, so distance measurement points are formed at Pa1, Pb1, and Pd1, and Pa2, Pb2, and Pd2. Consequently, the distance measurement points are distributed in two dimensions, so the distance accurately is measured even when the camera is held longitudinally or when right and left separate subjects are arranged.
