。As shown in FIG. 5, a conventional apparatus for applying paint to a substrate using a sponge roll supplies paint d from a paint supply device C between sponge roll a and guide roll b, and The elastic foam on the outer periphery of the sponge roll a deforms between the sponge roll a and the base material e to hold and apply the paint d.

The air was taken in, and the air remained in the elastic foam together with the paint d. For this reason, air bubbles are formed in the paint d applied to the base material C, and traces of air bubbles remain in the finished product formed by the subsequent drying and firing process, which leads to a decrease in yield and quality. FIG. 1 is an explanatory diagram showing the configuration of a coating apparatus A according to the present invention, in which the upper part is a coating roller, 4 is a hankuan sprayer, 5 is a paint pan, 6 is a pressure roll, B is a base material, C is paint. To explain in more detail, the coating roll has a cylindrical shape and is made up of a core material 2 made of metal or synthetic resin, and an elastic foam 3 formed to cover the outer peripheral surface of the core material 2, for example. The sponge roll holds the paint C in its bubbles, and then the base material B is compressed by being pressed by the base material B supported by the backup roll 4.
Paint C is applied directly to the decorative surface B of the paint. The bank up roll 4 is a cylindrical hard roll, for example, made of a metal roll or a synthetic resin roll, and has a hardness higher than at least the elastic foam 3 on the coating roll, and supports the base material B. This is for rotating and bringing the decorative surface B1 of the base material B into contact with the elastic foam 3 on the coating roll. The paint van 5 is a container for storing the paint C to be supplied onto the coating roll, and is constantly supplied with the paint C by a paint feeder (not shown) so that the liquid level does not drop. The press roll 6 presses the elastic foam 3 of the coating roll 1 that is in contact with the paint C in the paint bun 5, and the elastic foam 3 compressed by the compression part A takes in air at the opening of the expansion part. By compressing and expanding this in paint C, the captured air is released outside as bubbles 3a. Further, after passing through the pressure roll 6, the elastic foam 3 expands and restores its original state by sucking in the paint C without taking air into the elastic foam 3.

。Therefore, it is possible to always form a bubble-free paint C on the decorative surface B+ of the base material B with a constant film thickness. Reference numeral 7 denotes a doctor, which comes into contact with the outer peripheral surface of the elastic foam 3 on the coating roll, and is used to set the excess paint C or the adhesion thickness of the paint C. In addition, base materials B include metal materials such as colored steel plates, zinc/aluminum plated steel plates, temporary aluminum plates, stainless steel plates, copper plates, clad steel plates, and damping steel plates, or ceramic materials such as cement, clay, wood chip cement, and wood wool cement. The surface to be painted is either flat or has an uneven pattern added by embossing, etching, etc. as shown in FIG. 2. For example, paint C has synthetic resin components such as fluororesin, acrylic resin, polyurethane resin, epoxy resin, melamine resin, alkyd resin, polyester resin, furan resin, vinyl resin, urea resin, maleic resin, styrene resin, phenolic resin, and oil-free. Room-temperature curing type, heated or heat-curing type paint, or ultraviolet curing type using polyester, styrenated alkyd resin, aluminum paint, chilimen enamel, vinyl copolymer, polyvinyl butyral, ethyl cellulose, etc., and adding various pigments. It is a paint, glaze, etc., and has a viscosity of about 20 to 2000 centipoise.

The base material B is continuously fed between the coating roll and the backup roll 4 of the coating device A, and the coating roll, the backup roll 4, and the pressure roll 6 are rotated to form an uneven pattern on the decorative surface B1 of the base material B. Paint C is formed with a uniform film thickness. Next, the base material B on which this coating film has been formed is passed through a drying and baking process (not shown) in order to solidify the coating material C.
