学装置において、電気光学素子の両面に一対の保
護板を配置し、電気光学素子の基板の電極が露出
している端子部分に保護板の外側まで延長された
金属導体を接続し、保護板と電気光学素子とが接
着材で接着一体化され、外部まで延長された金属
導体の突出部分の根本の部分に樹脂による絶縁被
覆したことを特徴とする電気光学素子。 (2) 電極付の基板間に電気光学媒体を挟持し、
電圧によつてその光の透過状態を制御する電気光
学素子を外部駆動回路に導電接続してなる電気光
学装置において、電気光学素子の両面に一対の保
護板を配置し、電気光学素子の基板の電極が露出
している端子部分に保護板の外側まで延長された
金属導体を接続し、保護板と電気光学素子とが接
着材で接着一体化され、外部まで延長された金属
導体と、外部駆動回路からの導体を導電接続し、
