Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the heat of friction at the time of brake hard to be conducted to a plate and restrain the temperature rise of a rotary shaft at a rotor which is unrotatable against the rotary shaft and is slidable axially, by placing thermal insulation materials interveniently between the plate and friction materials. CONSTITUTION:A through hole 16 is provided extendingly in a radiation direction at parts of friction materials 15a, 15b, and a stop-engaging member 14a which is penetrated into the through hole 16, is put into a recessed groove 13a formed at the side surface of a plate 19. A flange shaped portion 17 is provided at the outer end portion of the stop-engaging member 14a, and parts of friction materials 15a, 51b are pinched between this flange shaped portion 17 and the side surface of the plate 19, and friction material 15a, 15b are attached on the side surface of a rotor 2. On the occasion of this attachment, thermal insulation materials 18, 18 are pinched between friction materials 15a, 15b and the plate 19, and fixed at these parts. Thus, heat generation at the time of brake is hard to be conducted to the plate 19 on account of thermal insulation materials 18, 18, and accordingly, the temperature rise of a rotary shaft is restrained, and the abnormality of rotation due to the expansion of a bearing can be prevented.

In the case of the disc brake of the present invention, heat is also generated during braking due to the friction between the stator 5.5 and the friction materials 15a and 15b.
5a, 15, and 5b, it is difficult for the heat to spread to the plate 19 due to the heat insulating material 18, 18 interposed between the heat insulators 5a, 15, and 5b.

(Effects of the Invention) Since the disc brake of the present invention is configured and operates as described above, it reduces the amount of frictional heat generated during braking that is transmitted to the rotating shaft, thereby reducing the temperature rise of this rotating shaft. This makes it possible to prevent abnormal rotation due to expansion of the bearing that supports this rotating shaft, and to extend the life of the grease that lubricates the bearing.
