Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain sharp printed matter having a three-dimensional feeling by concealing a foamed ink layer with a colored ink layer to prevent the foamed ink layer from becoming obscure by its whitening by providing the colored ink layer on the already foamed ink layer on a support. CONSTITUTION:At first, foamable ink is printed on a support 1. This foamable ink is prepared by mixing a binder and a solvent with a foaming agent and further adding necessary additives to the resulting mixture to perform kneading. By this method, an already foamed film composed of foamed ink 2' is obtained but this film contains air bubbles therein and has fine unevenness on the surface thereof according to said air bubbles. Subsequently, colored ink 3 is printed on the foamed ink 2' to form a colored ink layer. As a result, the colored ink layer conceals the layer of the already foamed ink 2' to prevent the foamed ink layer from becoming obscure by its whitening and sharp printed matter having a three-dimensional feeling can be obtained.

<Prior Art> Methods for printing and foaming foaming ink are well known. The resulting printed matter has irregularities on its surface, has an excellent three-dimensional effect, and has a pleasant texture, and is widely used for wallpaper, decorative boards, container decorations, album covers, etc.

<Problems to be Solved by the Invention> However, this foamable ink has a problem in that it whitens as it foams. This is because, in addition to the decrease in the concentration of the colorant due to the increase in volume associated with foaming, the surface of the foamed ink layer after foaming is uneven, and countless small air bubbles are generated inside the foamed ink layer. This is largely due to diffuse reflection on the surface and inside of this foamed ink layer.

First, foamable ink (2) is printed on this support (1). The foaming ink (2) is prepared by mixing a binder, a solvent, a foaming agent, and further adding necessary additives and kneading the mixture. As the binder, polyvinyl chloride or a copolymer of vinyl chloride and other monomers (vinyl acetate, vinyl propionate, methyl methacrylate, etc.), ethyl/vinyl acetate copolymer, etc. can be used.

As the blowing agent, a pyrolytic blowing agent or a microcapsule blowing agent can be used. Examples of thermally decomposable blowing agents include diazoaminobenzene, abbisbutyronitrile, abdihexahydrobenzodinitrile, l-luenbalasulfoazide, azodicarbonamide, toluenesulfonylhydrazine, dinitrosopentamethylenetetramine, calcium azide, etc. can be exemplified. A microcapsule type foaming agent is one in which a thermal expansion agent such as isobutane is encapsulated in a heat-softening shell material under normal pressure or pressurized state. Examples of heat-softening shell materials include polyvinylidene chloride, acrylonitrile, and polyamide.

In addition to this, the foamable ink (2) desirably contains a colored pigment, because if the colored ink (3) described below is a film of gravure printing, the film thickness is so thin that it may be visible through it. The pigment should preferably have the same color as the colored ink (3).

The printing pattern may be arbitrary, but an abstract pattern consisting of innumerable points of about 0.1 to 5v+i is suitable. This is because it is possible to apply it only to the existing parts). After printing the foamable ink (2), it is heated and foamed. The heating temperature is 140 to 250°C depending on the type of blowing agent. The thickness after foaming is preferably about 0.7 to 2.0 m, because it provides an excellent three-dimensional effect and allows the printing pressure to be applied only to the convex portions when printing the colored ink (3).

A colored ink (3) is then printed on the foamed ink (2). Printing can be done by any method, but it is preferable to use a method that transfers ink using pressure, such as gravure printing or offset printing. With such a printing method, the colored ink (3) is transferred only to the convex portions, and the surface of the convex portions is smoothed. to prevent diffused reflection (Figure 3).
