[Prior Art] An optical disk is a typical recording medium used in this type of electronic file device, but in write-once type recording media such as optical disks, it is generally impossible to record or play back on the disk. If there is a defective area, a replacement area is provided in another area on the disk. In other words, in such an electronic file device, after information is recorded, it is immediately played back and checked for errors, and when a defective part is detected, this information is rewritten into a predetermined exchange block. Note that a block here refers to a single recording/playback unit in this electronic file device, and specifically corresponds to a sector or a track. As a method of preparing an area for preparing such an exchange block, for example, as disclosed in Japanese Patent Publication No. 80-49988, an exchange sector is prepared on the l track, or as disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-open No. 60-95768. As disclosed in publications, etc., there are some exchange tracks in several tracks, and as disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 60-74158, etc., there are exchange sectors on the L track and in several tracks. There are some known types that have both a replacement track and a replacement track. In addition, when performing substitution processing using such exchange blocks, it is necessary to manage the substitution status. One of these management methods is to write management information (address information) indicating which blocks have been exchanged with each other all at once to a management area prepared on the disk in advance, so that no errors occur during playback. When this occurs, there are some methods that refer to the management area and search for the corresponding exchange block. [Problems to be Solved by the Invention] However, in a device in which management information for alternative processing is written all at once in a single management area as described above, each time alternative processing is performed, the head is There was a problem in that it was necessary to move to the area and play or record the management information, which took a lot of time to move. In addition, in order to reduce the moving time of the head,
It is possible to shorten the access time by temporarily importing the information in the management area into the device's internal memory and accessing this memory, but this requires separate memory and, for example, when an optical disk is inserted. The disadvantage is that it requires processing to import the management area information into memory, which takes processing time. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide an electronic file device that can quickly access a management area on a recording medium and shorten alternative processing time. [Means for Solving the Problems] The present invention provides an electronic file device that performs recording or reproduction on a disk-shaped information recording medium and performs alternative processing for defective blocks during recording or reproduction.
The information recording medium is characterized in that a management area for alternative processing provided on the information recording medium is arranged at a substantially intermediate position in the radial direction of the information recording medium. [Function] In the present invention, since the management area for alternative processing is arranged at approximately the middle position in the radial direction of the information recording medium, it is possible to arrange this management area biased towards the inner circumference side or the outer circumference side of the information recording medium. Compared to the previous case, the time it takes to move the head to the management area during alternative processing is shorter on average, making it possible to reduce alternative processing time. [Embodiment] FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing an embodiment of the present invention. The electronic file device l of this embodiment uses an optical disk as a recording medium, and includes a SCSI adapter 2, an MPU 3,
, ROM4, RAM5, ECC circuit 6, I/Ofll1
It has a first part 7 and a read/write part 8. Further, this electronic file device 1i is controlled by a host computer 10. MPU3 is. Based on the program in ROMA, it controls the electronic file device as a whole and performs alternative processing such as replacing bad sectors that occur on the optical disk. Furthermore, when information is recorded on the optical disc, the ECC circuit 6 adds/adds an error correction code (ECC) to this information.
In addition to deleting the data, it also performs a verification check to detect bad sectors. Furthermore, the read/write unit 8 records and reproduces information on the optical disc, and includes a rotation control unit for the optical disc, a drive control unit for the optical pickup device, a processing circuit for recording/reproducing signals, and the like. ing. In the electronic file device l of this embodiment, information is written and reproduced in units of l sectors (that is, 1 block = 1 sector). The above-mentioned defective sector replacement process is managed by sequentially writing the address of the defective sector and the address of the replacement sector into a management area, which will be described later. FIG. 2 is a schematic diagram showing the structure of the storage area of the optical disk 11 used in this electronic file device 1, and FIG. 3 is a schematic diagram showing the structure of the storage area formed in the form of tracks on such an optical disk 11. , is a schematic diagram expressed linearly. This optical disc 11 has a recording area divided into two in the radial direction into two information areas 12A, 13A and two alternative management areas 12B. 13B is provided. That is, the first
The information area 12A is provided on the inner peripheral side of the optical disc l1, and the first alternative management area 1 is provided outside this information area 12A.
2B is provided. Further, the second information area 13A is provided on the outer peripheral side of the optical disc l1, and the second information area 13A is provided on the outer peripheral side of the optical disc l1.
A second alternative management area 13B is provided inside 3A. Therefore, the alternative management areas 12B and 13B are arranged adjacent to each other. Each of the information areas 12A and 13A stores image information that is the object of a file, and is also provided with an area for obtaining replacement sectors to replace defective sectors that occur during recording and reproduction of this image information. In addition, each information area 1
2A and 13A have the same number of tracks N. Therefore, each alternative management area 12B. 13B is placed exactly in the middle of the optical disc 11 in the radial direction. Further, each of the alternative management areas 12B and 13B stores management information regarding alternative processing for each of the information areas 12A and 13A. That is, the above management information consists of the address of the bad sector and the address of the replacement sector for each alternative process. FIG. 4 is a flowchart showing the operation when recording information on the optical disc 1l. First, in any of the information areas 12A and 13A,
After recording information in units of one sector (51), the ECC circuit 6 performs a verification check to see if the information has been reproduced and recorded normally (32). If this information is normal or within the error correction capability of the ECC circuit 6 (S3), the process moves to the next sector recording operation (S4). Corrections are explained in detail in, for example, ``Coding Theory'' (by Miyagawa et al., 1973, published by Shokodo). Also, the recorded information is not normal in S2, and the EC
If it exceeds the error correction capability of the C circuit 6 (S3), it moves to an alternative area within the information area (SS
), after recording in the exchange sector (37), moves to the alternative management area corresponding to the above information area (58). Record management information (59). Then, the process moves to the recording operation of the next sector (S10). FIG. 5 is a flowchart showing the operation when reproducing information on the optical disc 1l. First, information is reproduced sector by sector in the information area where the target sector exists among the information areas 12A and 13A (S21), and the ECC circuit 6 checks whether this reproduced information is normal (S22). .. Then, check whether the playback information is normal or whether the ECC circuit 6
(323) if it is within the error correction capability of
, moves on to the reproduction operation of the next sector (S24), In addition, if the reproduction information is not normal and exceeds the error correction ability of the ECC circuit 6, an alternative management area corresponding to the above information area is (S25). Regenerate the alternative management information (326), search for the address of the corresponding exchange sector, move to the area where this exchange sector is recorded (S27), and reproduce the target exchange sector (328). , the next sector is played back (S29). In addition, in this embodiment, each of the above information areas l2A, 13
The number of tracks N of A is 1 from the host computer 10.
If the range is within the range that can be moved using commands, the handshake time can be shortened. Further, in the above embodiment, for brevity, a configuration in which both recording and reproduction are performed in units of sectors has been described, but the present invention can similarly be applied to, for example, an arrangement in which recording and reproduction are performed in units of tracks. Further, the present invention is not limited to an electronic file device using an optical disk as a recording medium as in the above embodiment, but can also be applied to devices using other information recording media. Further, in the above embodiments, the apparatus is configured as a device for both recording and reproduction, but it may be configured as a device exclusively for recording or reproduction. [Effects of the Invention] According to the present invention, since the management area for alternative processing is arranged at approximately the middle position in the radial direction of the information recording medium, the time required to move the head to the management area during alternative processing is reduced. is shorter on average, and the alternative processing time can be shortened.
