Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a humidifier and and air direction changing device to be integrally assembled and then to provide a compact and less-expensive air conditioner by a method wherein an air direction changing device for use in changing an air direction formed by a hydrophilic humidifying member having a water absorbing capability is provided. CONSTITUTION:Air sucked from a suction port 1 is blown by a air blower 9, the air is heated by a heat exchanger 2 during heating operation, resulting in making an air stream with a low relative humidity. A lower drain pan 3 of the heat exchanger 2 is provided with a drain tank 3a for recovering drain generated in case of cooling operation and a humidified water supplying tank 3b for humidifying during heating operation. Water is stored the humidifying water supplying tank 3b and the ends of several air directing plates 7a of an air direction changing device 7 in which several ellipse air directing plates 7a are arranged slantly at a rotating shaft. The air directing plates 7a are formed by hydrophilic plastic having a superior wettability and a water absorbing characteristic and the entire assembly is immersed through a phenomenon of capillarity. Air flow with a low relative humidity contacts the air directing plates, water content evaporates and then a humidifying operation is carried out. The humidified air stream is blown rightward and leftward from the outlet 6 by the air direction changing device 7 as the air directing plates 7a are rotated.
