Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable sludge to be cleaned within a drain pan without taking out the drain pan by a method wherein a drain plug is arranged to cover the substantial entire surface of the deepest part of the drain pan just below a drain pump CONSTITUTION:A drain plug 11' is placed just below a drain pump 10 and occupies the substantial entire surface of the deepest part 9 of a drain pan 8. A sludge 12 produced through a continued operation of a ceiling buried type air conditioner is removed by removing the drain plug 11' and taking out the drain water, the drain plug 11' is returned to its original state and thus the sludge may easily be cleaned. Accordingly, an interior of the drain pan 8 can be cleaned without taking the entire drain pan 8 out of a cabinet 2. A periodic cleaning of the drain pan can be efficiently carried out; thus, a leakage of water from the air conditioner caused by a clogged state of a drain pump or incapability of operation may be prevented.
