Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a rapier capable of performing a weft-insertion of a foil yarn without inversion by providing a stationary gripping member for performing weft- insertion of a foil yarn, forming a vertically extended space having a width larger than a half of the width of the foil yarn at the upper half of the innermost part of the yarn gripping wall face of the stationary gripping member and chamfering the top of the space to form a space having a width larger than the width of the foil yarn. CONSTITUTION:The objective gripping-type rapier 1 for inserting a foil yarn as a weft is obtained by providing a stationary gripping member 2 having a vertically extended space 4 having a width larger than 1/2 of the width of the foil yarn on at least the upper half of the innermost part of the yarn-gripping wall face 20 of the stationary gripping member 2, chamfering the top of the yarn-gripping side wall face 20 of the stationary gripping member to form a space 5 having a width larger than the width of the foil yarn, providing a mobile gripping member gripping a foil yarn between the stationary gripping member and the mobile member by the force of a spring and chamfering the top of a yarn-gripping side wall face 30 of the mobile gripping member 3 to form a space 6 having a width larger than the width of the foil yarn. The weft-insertion of a foil yarn can be carried out without causing the inversion of the foil yarn during insertion.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a gripping type rapier for inserting cut foil or foil yarn (both patterned and plain).

It is desirable that the foil yarn be inserted without turning over halfway through. If the foil thread is turned inside out during weft insertion, whether patterned or plain, if the foil thread is reversible, it will cause weaving flaws due to the folding of the inside out.
Similar weaving flaws overlap with missing patterns, hues, or luster spots due to turning inside out.

Conventional techniques and their problems Conventionally, it has not yet been established that a gripping type rapier can insert a foil yarn without turning it over midway through weft insertion. This is because the rapier used to insert threads other than foil threads is used as is for inserting foil threads. The details are as follows.

The speed of the weft insertion motion of the rapier is not constant, but is a sine curve, and in order to insert the foil yarn without any trouble, the withdrawal of the foil yarn accompanying the weft insertion must correspond to this sine curve. Conventionally, as a countermeasure against this problem, the foil yarn is pulled out from the foil yarn tube at a fixed position in the axial direction of the tube yarn, and under this pulling mode, resistance is applied to the pulling out of the foil yarn so as to correspond almost immediately to the above-mentioned sine curve. In this way, the inserted foil yarn is twisted in order to be pulled out in the above-mentioned manner, and often turns inside out during weft insertion.

Conventionally, foil threads were given a reverse twist each time they were inserted in order to eliminate the twist caused by inserting the weft, but even then, some turning over occurred during weft insertion. This is due to the following reason.

The grasping type rapier has a fixed gripping body and a movable gripping body whose thread gripping surfaces extend in a vertical plane, and a foil thread herepia head which is waiting with its front and back surfaces extending perpendicularly to the vertical plane along the rapier axis. By moving forward and then retreating, the foil thread is held between the thread gripping surfaces of both the gripping bodies. As a result, the gripped portion of the foil thread is twisted 90° around its axis. The direction of this "twist" is uncertain due to various factors. Moreover, with conventional gripping rapiers, there is no guarantee that the foil yarn will be properly "twisted" each time the weft is inserted. That is, in the conventional gripping type rapier, the perpendicular surface following the thread gripping surface of the fixed gripping body extends substantially to the front inner end surface of the rapier head, and it substantially extends to the upper surface of the rapier head. When gripping a foil thread between the body and the thread gripping surface of the movable gripper, the part of the foil thread other than the gripped part comes into contact with the thread gripping side wall surface of the fixed gripper due to the "twist". In addition to the direction of the movement, aspects other than the direction are also forced to become uncertain. For this reason, in conventional grasping rapiers, by arranging the foil yarn tube yarn so that its axis is perpendicular to the rapier, the foil yarn is not heated during weft insertion. Even if a suitable degree of tension is applied, it is impossible to avoid turning the foil yarn inside out during weft insertion.

Function In the present invention, the upper side wall surface of the thread gripping side of the fixed gripping body is chamfered to form a space larger than the width of the foil thread, so that the foil thread can be moved between the fixed gripping body and the movable gripping body. When gripped between them, the portion twisted by 90° around the axis of the foil thread does not come into contact with the thread gripping side wall surface of the fixed gripping body, except for the gripped portion. For this reason, the foil yarn is twisted appropriately when it is gripped each time the weft is inserted. If a chamfer is applied to the upper side of the thread gripping side wall surface of the movable gripping body to form a space larger than the width of the foil thread, the part where the foil thread is twisted will be on the thread gripping side wall surface of the movable gripping body. Also, there is no contact except for the gripped portion, and the suitability of twisting of the foil thread during gripping is improved.

In the present invention, by providing at least the upper half of the back end of the thread gripping side wall surface of the fixed gripping body with a space extending vertically and having a size of 1/2 or more of the foil thread width, the following results are brought about. .

At the moment when the gripped foil yarn is pulled by the rerapier for weft insertion, a dynamic load is applied to a region extending backward from the gripped portion, and as a result it vibrates, albeit slightly. The voids help to cope with this vibration of the foil yarn. That is, the foil thread is prevented from hitting the inner end of the thread gripping side wall surface of the fixed gripping body and being reversed due to the vibration.

Effects of the Invention As described above, according to the present invention, the twisting of the foil yarn when gripping is done appropriately for convenience of weft insertion, and when the foil yarn is pulled by a rapier, the foil yarn is twisted at the back of the wall surface of the thread gripping side of the fixed gripping body. Since no reversal occurs in the portion corresponding to the end, it is possible to arrange the rolled foil yarn, such as a tube yarn, so that its axis is perpendicular to the rapier, and to apply appropriate tension to the foil yarn during weft insertion. This ensures that the gripping rapier inserts the foil yarn without turning it inside out.

When the weight plate (12) is raised due to the accompanying increase in the tension of the foil thread at the beginning of drawing out the foil thread by the rapier (1),
When the weight plate (12) occupies a position above the sensor (13), the sensor (13) detects this, and based on this, the pinch delivery roll (10) is driven to send out the foil yarn. Since this amount of feeding is slightly less than the amount of foil yarn being pulled out by the rapier (1), the foil yarn being inserted maintains a predetermined pulling tension.
