Abstract

PURPOSE:To remove odor or harmful gas with simple configuration by covering the periphery of an electrical heater with a cylindrical catalyzer having a lot of throughholes and which is close to the heater. CONSTITUTION:Heat ray is radiated in the peripheral direction of a heater 1 when energized. A catalyzer 5 is provided as covering the periphery of the heater 1. Radiation heating of the catalyzer 5 is efficiently performed since the heat ray radiated in the peripheral direction of the heater 1 is completely radiated on the surface of the catalyzer 5. The temperature of the heat is increased to an active temperature of the catalyzer 5 in a short time and also the temperature of the catalyzer 5 to a high temperature. On the other hand, air flow 6 as natural current is generated in the vicinity of the heater 1 since the air in the vicinity of the heater 1 is also heated by the heater 1. The air flow 6 is thus purified and its odor is removed when the air flow 6 passes through the catalyzer 5 which is heated to its active temperature due to heat of the heater 1.

Since the cylindrical catalyst body having a large number of communication holes is provided close to the electric heating element, the electric heating element heats the object to be heated and also the catalyst body. Here, since the catalyst body surrounds the electric heating element, the temperature of the catalyst body is raised to the activation temperature of the catalyst in a short time in order to efficiently absorb the radiant heat emitted from the electric heating element. Furthermore, since the electric heating element also heats the air near the electric heating element, an air flow is generated near the electric heating element as a natural convection.

EXAMPLE Hereinafter, an example of the present invention will be described based on the accompanying drawings. In FIG. 1, a heating element section 1 is composed of a heating wire 2 and a quartz tube 3, and is insulated by an insulator 4. A cylindrical catalyst body 5 having a large number of communication holes is installed close to the heating element 1 so as to cover the entire circumference of the heating element.

When the heating element 1 is energized, heat rays are emitted from the heating element 1 in the entire circumferential direction of the heating element 1. However, the catalyst body 5 is the heating element 1
Since it is installed so as to cover the entire circumference of the heating element 1, all of the heat rays emitted in the circumferential direction of the heating element 1 are radiated onto the surface of the catalyst body 5, so that the catalyst body 5 is efficiently heated by radiation. As a result, the temperature can be raised to the activation temperature of the catalyst in a short time, and the temperature of the catalyst body 5 can be made high.
