In an air vent device for a carburetor of a vehicle engine, in which outside air is introduced into a carburetor via an air cleaner due to wind pressure while the vehicle is running, and a combustion chamber is filled with an air-fuel mixture created by the carburetor. A vent passage is connected to the clean side of the air cleaner, and a vent passage is provided in the middle of the vent passage to block off the vent passage when the engine is stopped and communicate the upper space of the fuel reservoir with the atmosphere, and to communicate the vent passage when the engine is running. An air vent device for a carburetor, further comprising a switching valve that shuts off communication to the atmosphere.
